Made during my residency at Fak'ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival. At the time there were clear attempts to gentrify Braamfontein in Joburg, epitomized by the 'No Street Vendor' which were everywhere. So I made an AR lens that tracks that tracks these signs and overlaps an animation of the street vendor breaking free and briefly celebrating before the bar returns and the cycle loops. AR struck me as a great way to extend the animation and fine art work I had previously done. And it also seemed like a great toolkit for reclaiming public space usually reserved for corporations and the state. It seemed like a new form of non-destructive street art.

Storyboards and an animatic I made based on a punchy Japanese fable about anger. Drawn entirely in photoshop, basic animation and editing in After Effects and Premiere, respectively.
