Hey, are you guys aware that there is a Tumblr bot called Kokobot? If you make some sensitive searches, it’ll show up in your messages. It’ll introduce itself, offer kind words and support, and connect you to other Tumblr users to help you. You send out a message, and it’ll pull up messages from other people in similar situations. You can choose whether or not to reply to them. It certainly helped me, and if you have anything you want to vent about or get advice on, I suggest using it!

I had a bad night and I’m really embarrassed at myself, so I’m going to try to focus on something positive right now rather than how I feel like a unhinged lunatic.

I mentioned recently that tumblr has something called @kokobot and I want to talk about it. A few nights ago I was having a really hard time, and I was searching gifs because I was wondering if any expressed how I was feeling.

Doing so triggered Tumblr to ask me if I was doing okay, and then Kokobot appeared in my instant messages.

Kokobot is a small, simple bot that appears to be connected to a larger, mental health oriented community. Kokobot asks you some simple questions about your present state and suggests things that may help. Primarily, it allows you to anonymously write a simple statement of your feelings that is then sent out to the community. Someone picks up the message and writes words of encouragement and positivity based on what you’ve written.

Eventually, it coaches you slightly on how to write good feedback yourself- (”Between these examples, what’s the better feedback to give?”) and you’re given the option of trying to help others.

I’ve been doing that the past couple of days. Sometimes the people you help (anonymously) will send back thank you notes. It’s really nice to know that you may have helped someone else, and it feels like it’s been a productive way to use the things I’ve learned in therapy.

I recommend Kokobot and I’m glad it exists. As good as it feels to talk to friends about problems, sometimes it’s comforting to talk to a listening, responding ‘void’.

I have been feeling bit down lately and since starting using koko .. honestly my life is 100%. Helping other makes me so happy and receiving all those thank you notes full of love makes me so happy .. thank you for creating place like this ❤

It helps so many people and as well as that , the respondent learns so much about their own views that they didn't know before from helping someone else

I discovered Koko since I’ve been feeling down lately, and helping others makes me feel so happy. Others help me too which is fantastic! In the morning I always go on koko and help a couple people, and it starts my day off wonderfully. ☺️

I’ve been helping people on Koko for about 5 months now and I love it! I always get thank you notes and I can’t even keep count of how many people I’ve helped.
