Entering my officecore era 🔥

A few days ago (bored as hell, I was), I partake a random Instagram's template trend that showcases what kind of aesthetic you'd have based solely on your Pinterest feed.

And honestly, Pinterest didn't disappoint. These are actually some of the things I'd consider wearing—and even the kind of home I'd love to have.

I was so inspired by the collage that I decided to redesign my persona using a similar aesthetic. Originally, I intended to lean more toward a greencore/solarpunk vibe, but halfway through coloring, it somehow evolved into officecore instead.

This piece is my entry for RossDraws' recent Draw Your Portal challenge. Originally, I wanted to focus on creating a character inspired by my writing hobby, but midway through the lineart stage, I changed my mind and decided to create a character and portal inspired by my phone instead—something that encapsulates not just a single hobby, but many of my creative experiences ✨

This was supposed to be posted yesterday, but I didn’t have the energy to finish it...🥀

[Art Breakdown]

Something simple for today. Originally, I wanted to draw some slugcat-related art from Rain World, since it would’ve fit perfectly with today’s prompt. Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to brainstorm the concept further because something urgent came up.

While it’s less flashy compared to the two previous works, I tried to make the palette a bit more engaging with a simple triadic of purple, yellow, and green. The colors did most of the heavy lifting really—without them, it would’ve looked far too bland.

I genuinely had fun drawing this one; it’s been quite a while since I last worked on a semi-full background piece with details, rather than the simple geometric shapes I often plaster behind the character.

While I admit the original concept was more dynamic—with the fish kite flowing in the air as Topaz dashed gleefully across the meadow—I decided not to go in that direction, since I wasn’t particularly happy with how the kite turned out once I cleaned the sketch.

Although the final piece lost some of its original dynamic potential, it gained an unintentional sense of story continuation from the first sketch, with the finished version portraying Topaz being distracted by the crows in the air.

Overall, I'm happy with how this turns out—especially with the color palette. 🪁
