there is a lot of discussion abt stimming online, but most it boils down to stuff abt hand flapping or tapping or vocal stuff; which is completely normal. yall are awesome!
but ive always felt really weird about my Own stimming because its... well. odd.
i spin. a LOT. ive done it since i was 11-12. i can do it for hours at a time on good days when my legs dont hurt. i always do it while listening to music and daydreaming along.
my spinning is the whole reason im diagnosed with lvl2 autism. i go through soooo many pairs of shoes via spinning, and the ones that last me the longest can cost hundreds of dollars. this form of stimming is called vestibular and proprioceptive stimming: it includes things like toewalking, swinging, jumping, etc etc!
i dont think many people know abt these types of stims. whether that be less discussed types, like visual or vestibular stimming, or stims that hinder life like my spinning does!
so. taps mic. people who stim via spinning or swinging, ily. people who stim via listening to the same segment of a song over and over, ily. people who stim via chewing or sucking on things, ily. people who stim via staring at objects they enjoy, ily. people who stim via repeating things theyre heard, ily. people who stim via big tight hugs, ily.
people whos stims can result in hurting yourself, ily. people whos stims are obvious and unable to be masked, ily. people who can mask their stimming, ily. people who stim out of joy and happiness, ily. people who stim when theyre overwhelmed or upset, ily.
people who stim a lot!! in any way, shape, or form!! i love you!!
and to those who are uncomfortable with language like "love," but apply to stims listed: i care about you! i appreciate you! you are important!
