targaryen's having dragon-like traits and mannerisms. sharper canines, warm skin but always preferring warm places, huge meat appetite. also the way aerion licked the blood in his mouth after dunk hit him ? longer tongues ?

dragons would likely have have a reflective layer called the tapetum lucidum behind the retina, creating "eyeshine" by reflecting light to enhance night vision. this makes a lot of sense given they have to navigate flying at night. even those of either bastard / mix blood.

WELL, what if we really leaned into the targaryen being dragon blooded and bonded with their dragons ( the should have been bond in akotsk ). what if their unique and unusual violet eyes actually had the same reflective nature in the dark and the ability to see well in the dark. how?

well, their bloodline that has developed over a 400+ years to fly with dragons from old valyria. so what if it's an ability valyrians developed naturally over time and also blood magic could have achieved something to this affect. i actually think this would also lend to the whole 'they're aliens' sentiment that the westerosi have of house targaryen. particularly in the age of aegon's conquest, imagine seeing this conqueror atop a dragon with these violet and when nightfall comes those same eyes shine in the dark shine back.

like what if we made it more literal ? mutation traits from old valyria and adding to their alien presence to westeros ? but also it makes sense in some ways. the keen night vision would aid a dragonrider. features that bond them more to dragons than human. how they slowly lose the bond to these dragon feature after the dragons die.
