still work shopping but the basics i got so far are like.

Yona and Hak are both sorta Swapped with Soowon Soowon's the crown prince. Yuhon lives longer since he was too busy to properly visit Il after Kashi's death, but then on the week of Yona's birthday, shortly after Yonghi's death, Il takes him to somewhere private and does still end up killing him, only Yona actually catches him this time and is completely panicked, and before either can do much Soowon also walks in. Soowon thinks Yona was in on it, unwilling to listen to her, so she does have to run and escape from him, with Il forcing her to flee lest she take punishment for his actions. So in this swap au he's the crown prince with a grudge against Yona as strong as Hak's grudge against him in canon (Eventually he'll accept the truth that Yona was not actually in on it)

Hak is also sort of swapped with Yun. Hak never became Yona's bodyguard since she's not the princess, and Soowon didn't necessarily need him as a bodyguard (though he wants him still) instead just being the Wind Tribe's general. Yun was found by Ik-su, who couldn't actually take him in at that point yet, and instead, after some mail correspondence with Kashi, ends up sending him to her. The orphaned Yun is then raised alongside Yona as her "personal attendant" officially even if they treat him more like actual family by the present time. (little note in this Hak gifted him the feathers because he liked the wind tribe's fashion. Yun is the one who runs into a distraught Yona trying to flee and helps her escape. He decides to take her to the Wind Tribe since both of them don't know what to do and second first instinct is to go to Hak, their friend, for help.

Kija and Zeno are swapped. Zeno grows up in the white Yellow Dragon village, where he is treated similar to canon Kija but unlike Kija, he doesn't fully embrace the role, wanting to be more free. Especially after meeting a lovely lady who he wants to pursue but is not allowed to do to her ailing health and status as an outsider. He secretly resents the dragons. (Still doesn't use people's names really) Kija is the immortal, and while his existence makes him sad and tired, he doesn't resent it and finds joy where he can. He triggers the finale arc purely because when he sees his brothers suffering after turning into dragons he sucks them up into the chalice one by one, thinking it'll help them only to learn it won't let them out. His guilt leads him to playing villain and goading Yona into trying to kill him.

Shinah and Jaeha are swapped. Shinah stayed in his Village (in this au they'd always lived in that cave system), being thought of as a monster and chained up. The blue dragons of past never able to escape due to the cave systems. Jaeha was forced into a mask as a baby, then grew up treated as a curse and abused. He escapes when he's 12 thanks to Garou, who realized he was about to lose the last of their power to Jaeha and when they were trying to escape again, he used the last little bit to just paralyze the village for a split second allowing Jaeha to run away. Jaeha refuses to wear his mask after this.
