this anti hetero ship bullshit is getting real old. icb i see people on every social media platform getting genuinely and wholeheartedly heated over heterosexual ships... particularly in the overwatch fandom.

• these characters are fictional. as long as they’re both of legal age, people can freely ship whoever they want. mind your business

• heterosexual ships are often seen as abusive by default which is a load of shit and y’all need a reality check 😐

• it doesn’t matter if the characters don’t interact/canonically dislike each other because the ships are in AU. they’re characters. stop acting like the characters are gonna jump out of the game/book/show/film/whatever and thank you for defending them against those who ship them with other characters they canonically dislike/don’t interact with

• this is applicable to a number of other things, but: you can’t go around calling every other-than-loving/friendly dynamic “abusive”. take junkmei/meihem for example... mei and junkrat dont canonically like each other very much, but their dynamic is not ABUSIVE and people aren’t ENABLING ABUSE for shipping the two. y’all throw around the word “abuse” way too loosely and blow everything way out of proportion... they don’t like each other. simple as that. it doesn’t mean people don’t have the freedom to ship them and develop or explore their dynamic in AU. this is FICTION. these characters are not real people and they cannot be hurt by fans shipping them.
