The biggest issue with shipping the two most popular characters in a fandom together is having to deal with self shippers bitching in the comments of every piece of ship art of those characters, no matter how rare of a pair it is. I'm quite tired of it.
There's so much self ship art and fanfics with those characters, and yet you choose to complain about the 1/1,000,000,000 fan work of the two together. Give me a break.
It's even worse when the post has absolutely nothing to do with shipping and just depicts them as friends, because the self shippers will still be like "get (character) away from my husband/wife". So people of the opposite sex can't just be friends either?
I'm embarrassed to say I'm a shipper because I get lumped in with people that either insert on an existing character/create a self insert character to get with their fave and go feral if someone ships that character with someone else, including their own self insert, or the hardcore shippers who will practically track your IP address if you ship something different than them.
Not a single person in any online space I've ever been in behave like civilized people when someone presents an opinion that's even slightly different from theirs, shipping or otherwise. And that doesn't just apply to fandom spaces either.
I don't have a problem with self-shipping, you do you, but the second you start harassing people who have opinions different from yours, or that create content for a ship/character you don't like, you've crossed a line and you deserve to be called out.

I've been working on this design for my OC for quite some time and I so badly want to post about it but, at the same time, I feel like it's not good enough. I feel like there's so much more I could do with it that, if I do post about it, I'll just end up posting the same art with very minor tweaks a couple weeks later that it's pretty much pointless.
I've already worked out a fair amount of the lore regarding the character, but there's still a lot to finalize and it'd likely be a mile long post/series of posts if I did talk about it.
And especially because my art skills aren't the best. I don't want to post the current design and get made fun of, either on here or other social media platforms.
