I recently made a post about this, but here it is again!

“We're in the middle of a four week period where early risers have been treated to a rare astronomical sight: 5 planets right in a row!“

“If you're so inclined to set the alarm a few minutes earlier Tuesday...and maybe Wednesday (iffy), head outside in the 60-90 minutes before sunrise (so, about 6 a.m. or so) and look to the southern skies and you'll find the planets lined up left to right on a gentle arc on the low-to-middle horizon.“

Many of you might not recognize nor remember this attraction at Universal Studios Orlando. And unfortunately, it was a shame to have seen it close, because for kids it was a bloody amazing attraction for its time.

As you queued for the ride, many of the props used in the film would have made an encounter through the line. Props ranging from the original night vision goggles seen during the T-Rex encounter in the film to the vehicles themselves.

Unfortunately, the ride shut down due to some problems with the attraction. Not many people got to pet the animatronic trike. The reason they gave was that it “got too big” but it is more than possible they just didn’t see the attraction truly working for the park.

The ride officially shut down in 2003, and most of the props used were scattered around the Jurassic Park section of the park. All the remains is a video of the attraction.

Man, Windows 95. I sure do remember the ugliness of the that OS, and Solitaire. Who could forget Solitaire? Oh, and the original Internet Explorer! That thing was something else for the time. 

Because the operating system isn’t running natively, it does have a fair share of limitations. Launching certain programs, such as Internet Explorer, will make the emulation crash. In my brief experience, just launching and then closing Sound Recorder caused a crash as well.

Since the last one was about cancelled projects, let us continue this theme of unfortunate cancellings of Jurassic Park stuff.

If this logo isn’t familiar to you, then the reason is because this was a game that never saw the light of day. It was a Survival-esque game based off the third Jurassic Park film slated for release on PC, Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube. It was expected to release in 2001.

Dinosaur AI was meant to be an integral part of the game; dinosaurs would be able to lure the main character into traps, hunt in packs, and retreat for reinforcements if needed.

The game would have featured 12 large levels, located in swamps, dense forests, huge underground caves and networks of tunnels, military outposts, a marina, a terrorist camp, jungles, and a hatchery. A tram would have been used to transport Vaughn from one location to another(similar to Dead Space).

Unfortunately, the game was cancelled, and nothing was heard of since. This video is the last we will ever know of this project:

The project, called SkyBender, involves several prototype transceivers and multiple drones, which are housed at Virgin Galactic's Gateway to Space terminal in New Mexico's Spaceport America. Information about the secret project, which is part of the Google Access team that includes Project Loon, was gleaned from documents that were obtained in accordance with public record laws.

SkyBender works with millimeter wave radio transmissions, which, "can theoretically transmit gigabits of data every second, up to 40 times more than today’s 4G LTE systems," The Guardianwrote.

Jacques Rudell, University of Washington in Seattle professor of electrical engineering, tells The Guardian the advantage to this technology is that the "existing cellphone spectrum is overcrowded." However, millimeter wave transmissions have a shorter range than that of a mobile phone signal, which is something the experiments are likely striving to improve.

SkyBender is working with, "an “optionally piloted” aircraft called Centaur as well as solar-powered drones made by Google Titan, a division formed when Google acquired New Mexico startup Titan Aerospace in 2014." The FCC has granted Google permission to continue tests until July 2016.

Imagine someone digging your bones up when you were a small dinosaur such as the Dracoraptor, what would they name you? You sure wouldn’t know but you’d hope it would be cool, right? This is where the Dracoraptor hanigani, aka the dragon robber, comes into play.

This little fella didn’t rob anyone, at least nothing that proves it did, nor was it a dragon. But hey, it’s a cool name for a dinosaur, right? This 200-million-year-old Welsh dinosaur (who got the second half of his name from Nick and Rob Hanigan, who found the fossil) got it’s Draco part, which means dragon, simply because it’s Welsh. Simply put, it’s a nod to the best flag ever, the Welsh flag.

Based on the fossil described in a recent study in PLOS ONE, researchers believe that Dracoraptor hanigani grew to be about 10 feet long. The juvenile studied by researchers would have stood just over two feet tall, which would make it seem pretty puny when pitted against a 13-foot-tall T.Rex.

Dracoraptor hanigani may be one of the oldest Jurassic dinosaurs ever found, giving scientists a glimpse of the kinds of species that survived from the Triassic Period.

“About 200 million years later, the newfound dinosaur looks a little generic, but at the time in the early Jurassic, it was quite new and different,” study co-author Steven Vidovic of the University of Portsmouth told Live Science. “So the reason it might look a bit generic in hindsight is that loads of later dinosaurs repeated the winning formula.”
