I decided to go a step further to separate their save data and mods. So here are steps for that:

Find where the save files are located, something like C:\Users\yourname\Zomboid

Copy/paste the whole "Zomboid" folder and rename it something like, "Project_Zomboid_B41_Saves"

Now we need to link this launch method to our new saves folder. Go back to the folder with the exe. Make a shortcut. Right click and open properties on the shortcut. Where it says "Target" go to the end of the text in the field, space, then paste the following except replace what's in the quotes with your file path: -cachedir="D:\Project_Zomboid_B41_Saves"

You can also space and add -debug at the end of that if you want debug mode.

If a mod is removed and you need to manually install a backup copy you have, copy the subfolder that is the name of the mod, not the number ID, and paste it into Project_Zomboid_B41_Saves/mods (or whatever you named your folder).

And if you want to go a step further and keep your B41 mods from automatically updating, you have to do the above step for each mod*, and then also add to the shortcut exe properties: -modfolders mods,workshop,steam

A space before the dash and a space after "-modfolders". That will supposedly prioritize the local folder first, then other locations for mods. Or if you want it to ignore Steam workshop entirely, I think you can just put: -modfolders mods

That's what I did, and my mods do still work, but I cannot say for sure if the workshop is being ignored.

*I have many mods, so I opened the folder with all the numbered folders, searched "mods" and then selected and moved all those to a different folder, combining them. The new folder then just had all the named folders.

He did save the prisoners, though Wulbren was the only gnome who showed up at Moonrise later. What happened to the others, Wulbren??

I can only assume Mardon was traumatized by the LLI incident, because as soon as Shadowheart started acting shady, he told her not to do whatever she was thinking of doing inside the Shadowfell, and instead of de-escalating the situation when she threatened him, he killed her.

I was so scared Mardon was going to kill Mizora and lose Wyll too. Tbh, he chose to just walk away. But because he didn't push any buttons, I figured it was fair that Wyll would then free Mizora himself.

Anyway, they played hide and seek with Oliver, got drunk with Thisobald, defeated Ketheric, etc.

Despite saying she was leaving to warn people about the army, Jaheira showed up at Moonrise. Mardon finally recruited her after fighting Myrkul. So we have a third party member again! For now, at least.

(You don't really realize how many ways there are to lose companions until you do a run like this lol. Normally you can just not make terrible decisions.)

Surprisingly, Wyll seems to have a crush on Mardon and tried to dance with him, but Mardon turned him down.

Of course the shadow curse wasn't lifted, since Halsin is dead.

And then, after all that, Mardon almost doomed them by refusing to help the Emperor. But I decided it was fair to let him roll one more time to see if he would change his mind when he realized the gith were attacking them (since the game does allow you to change your mind and still help Emps), and he did. He still wasn't interested in tadpoles though.

So off Mardon, Wyll, and Jaheira go to Act 3. Will Mardon save Minsc? Will he hand Jaheira and Minsc over to Sarevok? Will he give up right at the end when faced with the power of the nether brain? Will he save the world? Will he take it over? Stay tuned to find out!
