little tin soldier, last line of defense, how easily you buckle under the weight of responsibility as penultimate choice is laid before you like a full house:    loyalty or vengeance?    the answer is so obvious it’s almost funny.    he tries to smile through the pain, tries to laugh at a joke with him as the designated punchline.    it’s almost funny, how easily he’s able to be swayed from one side to the other.    a sudden crosswind sending him elsewhere.

❝  according to who — ?    you?  ❞    voice is steady despite obvious tremor running through bruised body, harsh glare punctuated by raised brow remains focused on shadowy figure before him.    ❝  didn’t realize you had a monopoly on that sorta thing — next time this happens to me, i’ll remember to call ahead and get your blessing.  ❞    jaw snaps with a blind hostility as cornered animal tugs slightly at his restraints.    he could scream — could cry out for the rest of his life, and it would never be enough to heal torn soul.    what has been lost can never be returned.    your boulder is gone, sweet sisyphus, and now all that remains is the echoing laughter of those around you.

a deep, shuddering sigh is exhaled (it sounds more like a wheeze, but if anything, he’s surprised he’s still breathing in the first place) and puffy eyes squeeze shut as muscles tense in an effort to combat the growing urge to empty what little resides in his stomach.    swallow back the rage, let it dissolve until only the fumes of realization remain.    your boulder is gone, sweet sisyphus, and now all you can do is laugh alongside those around you.

🍍:    how comfortable is my muse in their body?    how do they feel about their height, weight, strength, and body type?    how important is being attractive to them?

chuck’s honestly pretty comfy in his own skin!    it’s decently built, strong enough to keep control of his glider in bad or unpredictable weather, and can carry his head from one room to another with relative ease — overall, not much for him to complain about!    when it comes to being attractive, he really doesn’t think about it too much?    claire would tell him he was cute when they were together, but it hasn’t been a point of importance to him since then.    too many thoughts already in his head, not enough room to prioritize that much self - reflection.

🍅:    how does my muse feel about plastic/cosmetic surgeries and procedures?    is it something they have done or would do?    do they mind if others do it?

as someone fascinated by aerodynamics and related concepts, he finds the end results of those types of procedures interesting from a very objective point of view; does a reconstructed nose create better air intake for your nasal passages?    will skin from a different part of your body have more or less air resistance compared to what was there before?    things like that!    chuck neither has any personal want or need for them (unless something happens that makes them necessary for his health) nor does he mind if others have had them done.    it’s your body, do with it as you will.

🍏:    how stable is my muse’s physical health?    do they go for regular or semi - regular checkups by a physician?    do they have any diagnosed illnesses and/or take any medication?    how often do they get sick?

spring!    bringing in crosswinds of change after winter’s frigid hardships, spring represents chuck’s ability to take leaps of faith, to get back up after every fall, and to keep looking for the good in a situation no matter how bad things may seem — to the point of even becoming a source of good himself when one might otherwise not be found.

his emotions can shift with the suddenness and intensity of spring’s rather temperamental weather patterns; his ire rolling in like a raging thunderstorm you thought would be nothing more than simple showers, unassuming - looking clouds that darken before you can think to take action, with high winds and torrential rains that threaten to destroy anything in their paths — only to disperse almost as quickly as it’d formed, golden rays poking through with infallible hopefulness that things will get better.    he is as warm and inviting as the sun, able to thaw out even the coldest of hearts and befriend some of the most unlikely people.

anyway!    yes, chuck is seen as a joke by most everyone with few exceptions.    he is seen as pathetic, he is seen as weak, he is seen as gullible and too trusting of others and people think he’s kinda dumb!    and guess what?    he knows this.    he is incredibly aware of the fact that very few people take him seriously, and even then only for a short amount of time.    he’s one of those individuals that’s useless until he’s useful before once again being seen as useless after his use has run out!    he knows kites are a weird fucking motif but guess what?    he doesn’t care!

it can be argued whether or not these assumptions about chuck are accurate, but given how aware of them he is he tends to ham it up depending on who’s watching, because it’s easier to live up to a set of expectations when you start to lean into them yourself.    is chuck pathetic?    is he weak?    is he gullible and too trusting?    is he kinda dumb?    yes, he is all of the above mentioned — just not to the degree others assume him to be.    chuck is a very, very smart man who understands his place in the ecosystem of gotham’s underground.
