This is more likely fanning the flames, but I felt like showing this now that you finished the Unbreakable Bond saga anyway.Β

This link leads to a long Twitter thread that explains the artistβs thought process with Female Sonic and herself. Itβs less of a justification and more of an exploration between the artist pre- and post-transition and why they portray Sonic like this at all, besides it being a fetish.Β
Alright, time to hear their own explanation on this.
MP: Some people, even some trans friends, donβt like it when I make Sonic a woman, sheβs not as combative anymore. Sometimes I take away her speed. And it has been used by certain [word censored because I donβt want those people to find this blog] who want to portray me anti-feministic, on top of that I make porn therefore βI should beβ.
First of all, people who accuse Miss Phase of being anti-feminist are the exact type of progressives I fucking hate. Instead of going after the bigots and reactionaries in the community of which there is no shortage of, they aim to attack someone who just makes questionable art. Yes, Iβve said Miss Phaseβs work is inherently harmful but she is not internalized misogynist like Kathy Garrison-Kelloggs or internalized transphobe. Itβs in-fighting purity testers like that who give bigots and reactionaries power. You can critique Miss Phase but donβt act like she is evil. As for the trans friends, they have a very valid point, but weβll get there with rest of her posts.
MP:Β In my understanding of things, pre-coming out, everyday was a performance, an effort and a fight. Constantly fighting makes you stronger, sometimes more than anyone else. And people love what youβve become - except you, who didnβt want to fight in the first place.
I get their point but also, isnβt being trans also fighting? Youβre fighting against a world that actively hates you and wants you dead. I still havenβt come out to anyone who knows me in the real world, except for my siblings. Being trans isnβt easy, transistioning is not going to make you stop fighting. Iβve said it before, trans people are NOT complacent.
What do you mean βpeople love what youβve become when you fight constantlyβ. Miss Phase makes it sound like she was a boxer before she transitioned. Trans boxers do exist. If they stopped boxing orΒ βfightingβ after they transitioned, thatβs their decision but not everyone is gonna stop fighting. And in fact, for most trans people real fighting is just beginning. Especially trans athletes, to the point people are accusing random cis people who arenβt conventionally attractive of being trans, like that one girl in the last olympics who lives in a country where BEING TRANS IS ILLEGAL.
MP: In many of my interpretations of FemSonic, that stands for her speed. She improved on her speed because world demanded out of her, so much so when the enemies became stronger, everyone ends up relying on Sonicβs speed to save the world. I resent that in the gamesβ lore a lot.
Aaaand you lost me. From my understanding speed sometimes plays less of a role in Sonicβs games in favour of more puzzle elements. I donβt understand. You want a Sonic game where Sonic is no longer fast? It exists, itβs called Sonic Labyrinth, it sucks.
Really this is like goingΒ βMan, there needs to be a Mario game where Mario stops jumping, because everyone ends up relying on Mario because he can jumpβ. Sonic is something more than running, he saves the world. Heβs a hero, heβs not that different from Mario, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Rayman and other platform heroes. If you want a game where being a hero is deconstructed, Iβm afraid Sonic is not the franchise for that.Β
I have not played Sonic games for a while, the newest game when this tweet thread was made was Sonic Frontiers. Does everyone in that game goΒ βOh no Eggman is back again, Sonic, do your running thing and save the world!!!β? I think Sonic fan who was watched more Sonic media knows better to say if Miss Phaseβs critique is fair.
MP:Β In reality a lot of times trans people either try to hide their assigned gender, or their transgenderism, and in the end nearing an extreme. Sometimes, that extremity becomes a desired part of them by their environment, if not becoming so iconic theyβre irreplaceable.
β¦okay, Iβve only been trans for likeβ¦2 and a half years. But I have known trans people for over a decade now. Is this something that happens??? I am confused. Is this about people becoming weightlifters and such to compensate for their gender insecurities? I know Caitlyn Jenner did that, but also Caitlyn Jenner is an internalized transphobe so she doesnβt count. A better example would be Gabbi Tuft, she used to be a pro wrestler in WWE under the name Tyler Reks. From what I understand she retired from wrestling shortly before transistioning, and she doesnβt really do wrestler type stuff anymore. But she is still a fitness figure, sheβs still an athlete, you know, what most people who quit pro wrestling are, they stay in shape and work out.Β
ProtonJon also recently transistioned, she used to have this joke of her having an alternate form of Rosalina with huge boobs. That became iconic, but sheβs still kept it around even after transistioning.
Thisβ¦really only applies to people who are celebrities, not your normal day to day trans people. I think this probably applies to Miss Phase, judging by the way she talks, but you know the classic internet zinger.Β βYour experiences are not universalβ. So yeah, your experiences are not universal, Miss Phase.
MP: In the end we didnβt have to be fighters but we ended up as such. I think expecting the same people to remain being fighters after transitioning isβ¦ terrible. Because fighting isnβt our default, itβs default for nobody. And strength shouldnβt be proven exclusively by combat.
Yes, fighting is not our default. But sadly, we canβt afford to live in a world where fighting is NOT default. We donβt live in a paradise where transphobia is deader than smallpox. For most trans people, being alive IS fighting. Every trans person is fighting to be alive, and there are a lot of trans people being murdered every single day. So you think those trans people should have stopped fighting. Youβre talking about strength like thereβs this whole movement of trans people wanting to get in shape. Yeah, trans people getting in shape is a good thing, so you can fight people who are actively trying to MURDER YOU FOR EXISTING.
But if you exclusively mean fighting as inΒ βour most iconic parts of our pre-transistion selvesβ, maybe you have a point but I know way more people who keep many aspects of their pre-transistion selves as opposed to those who abandon them.
Uh, was this about Sonic?
MP:Β "Sonikko is so far removed from Sonic that I see no point in not having her an original character" But thatβs the point. People will surprise you after they transition. And you, as a cis friend, might even feel disappointment, or βidentity deathβ morbidities toward the person
You have a point, you really do butβ¦ugh, if I knew a friend of mine who regularly fought against evil people, you know, saving lives, and they decided to transition so they could only do onlyfans and take dicks in their asses, then I am sorry. They did the wrong choice. I would say that without a beat. They didnβt kill their previous identity, they killed their own morality.
Youβre essentially preaching that being complacent is somehow being pro-trans. What if Sonic was idolized by people who are trans? And then she turned female so she could suck cocks. Thatβs really insulting! I know people who have made their own female Sonics and theyβveβ¦still kept the wholeΒ βsaving the world, being fastβ part.Β
I hate to argue against this point because they are right, but frame it in the completely wrong way.Β
MP:Β A trans person pre-transition engages in daily performance, and that builds on itself like a mountain, as lies often do. Itβs easy to mistake that mountain as the person underneath it. When that mountain is gone, you might feel a lot of bad emotions, even grief.
It sucks because this post also had a picture from Unbreakable Bond Saga attached to it, where Tails goesΒ βARE YOU A FEELING CREATURE PERHAPSβ to Metal Sonic.
Again, I donβt disagree with any of this, but you keep insisting that this warped, complacent, insulting version of Sonic is the most universal representation of trans experience.
And exploring a story where Sonic transistions would be good, even great. BUT THIS IS NOT IT. THIS IS NONE OF IT. ITβS GENUINELY INSULTING. And like I shittalked people who called you anti-feminist, and while they are wrong, I also donβt blame them for seeing that! Iβm trans, and even if Iβve been trans for less time than you have been, I still think youβre wrong with how you approach Sonicβs post-transition life!!!
MP: Trans people in our current times feel too late to having been transitioned, and they start chasing a life they shouldβve gotten when they were younger. As if correcting a split path in the timeline by timetravelling back in time (except we donβt really timetravel).
For the third time, I donβt disagree with any of this, but why on earth are you insisting Sonic taking strangers dicks in her ass was theΒ βcorrect pathβ? Thatβs the part I donβt get. And why are you insisting on doing it over and over and over again??? Isnβt that getting boring? Like, itβs just like fucking Richie shipping Pikachu with Lucario and Guilmon with Renamon EVERY SINGLE TIME. When you do something enough times, shit gets stale. Even Stephen King wrote a non-horror novel once in a while, and we got Shawshank Redemption out of it. This is another example of you accidentally preaching complacency when pushing outside our comfort zones is something that is almost the quinessential trans experience.
MP: And if you know your butterfly effect, a person can grow up to develop very different aspects of personalities if certain conditions were changed, like, affirmed for her actual gender from the beginning. If I were working on an OC, it would never have this much impact or meaningΒ
Okay, that last part is where everything collapses. The thing is, you COULD have this much impact and meaning with an original character. You choose Sonic to go through this transition becauseβ¦itβs literally you projecting your own desires and beliefs into a character that you didnβt create.
In other words, youβre doing the exact same thing Connor Davidson did with Sly Cooper and his dad.
I donβt think I need to say anything else, do I?
Okay I wish I couldβve ended my post here but for rest of that thread, she is talking about Sonic having long nose which Iβve never complained about. And then she goes on about why Sonic wants to have sex, which pretty much devolves into deflecting and word salad. Just say you have a fetish for it. Donβt do the old Ralph Kramden hummina hummina hummina, just embrace it. Stop trying to pretend like your Sonic porn is more intellectual than other Sonic porn when it isnβt.
Lastly it ends on a point which pisses me off.
MP: Meanwhile weβre talking about the Sonic franchise, whose original comics included direct references to things like racism, direct quotes from the holocaust; whose games DID dabble in adult themes in iterations like 06 or Shadow the Hedgehog game, gave a 18+ character boob physicsΒ
So because a no talent hack charlatan Ken Penders insulted the legacy of holocaust by stealing PastorΒ Martin NiemΓΆllerβs famous poem and applied to Sonic context, youβre allowed to draw Sonic taking dicks up her ass? Fuck off. Youβre doing the same thing Ken Penders and Connor Davidson did, trying to turn a franchise into your own personal playground, that only appeals to YOU. That you only write for YOURSELF. And then you go on about howΒ βthis is accurate to real trans experienceβ.
Hereβs my advice, keep all the biblicalΒ βSONIC STOPPED RUNNINGβ shit to yourself, and just draw Sonic getting fucked by random men. Thatβs what people are really into. Thatβs how you got popular in the first place. And please, delete your twitter because that website is downright evil and not gonna help your case at all.
