sorry if you already posted this, what all has v1v done that's unprofessional with the animation industry?
Oof there is a lot to cover, but we’ll explain what we can. I’ll include dots between screenshots and points so it’s not all muddled together too.
There are a few places where the information is a bit better catalogued if you don’t want to really take my word for it- but I’m not sure how concise and catalogued it all is. You’re free to dismiss this. I want to keep this centered on professionalism/maturity specifically, but there is just. A looot more to this iceberg.
I think her unprofessionalism is -sorta- more the likes of Butch Hartman than John K, anyway. she’s not an irredeemable monster, but people -have- been hurt and even directly targeted by her with the intent to harm.
It’s kind of her general habitual immaturity/lashing out at people randomly on social media that’s the most damning in that regard. She doesn’t just ignore criticism or snarky comments, she lashes out FREQUENTLY at random very small creators, very publically, knowing 100% this will encourage hate sent that person’s way.
This has ALWAYS been her MO, even back during the Zoophobia days. She never discourages this- and will usually make big public shows of being so thankful to her fanbase shortly after publicly pointing out critics and those critics (again, harmless randos) receiving a ton of extremely vitrolistic hate. Hmm.
She refuses to take criticism, and thus her art/design style is largely unchanged for 8 years. Keep in mind, a lot of her behavior would be more forgivable in a 15 year old, but she’s consistently behaved exactly the same from 19-27. This is AGAIN usually handled by publically lashing out.
She refuses to even address criticism, with a lot of arguments boiling down to ‘it’s not offensive to me, so it’s not offensive! Except when it IS offensive to me, then you SUCK!’
Her one major ‘apology’ for harmful behavior, re: joking about/making light of pedophilia (which we wont get into here- this is just about how she addressed it), was mostly anger at having to address her behavior at all. I don’t think she’s ever earnestly addressed people being harmed by her actions and taking responsibility for it? Or used the word ‘sorry’.. at all?
Keep in mind, this is ALL on her professional account. Which brings us to….
ACTUALLY RUNNING HER BUSINESS
She gets her hiring done from begging her audience on Twitter to post “their portfolio” which is 4 pieces. A standard professional portfolio is 10 to 15 images AT LEAST and she knows this. Not only that but she specifically REFUSES to hire actual industry professionals (likely because they actually expect to get paid industry standards which she does not do but that is a whole other bag of worms).
It is INCREDIBLY unprofessional to use 4 pieces off of a fan on Twitter as a means to hire. It cuts out all actual industry professionals who are looking for work and if more people did this method the animation industry as a whole would collapse. I’m honestly surprised the main animation unions in the US have not intervened. That all is incredibly sketchy and is downright rude. She’s pulling from her fans who would be very interested to work for her so of course many of them aren’t going to say no to working far below minimum wage if it is working for Vivziepop.
She asked for free character designs FOR the pilot instead that will then be owned by her. I’m not sure if anyone was then credited for their designs.
Otherwise, paying her employees has been on a ‘as work gets done’ basis, which doesn’t give anyone reliable income. On top of hiring extremely expensive musicians and voice actors over stable pay, it’s just a bad business move.
A lot of people who work with her have nothing but praise for working with her, but she’s proven herself to be very two-faced when one no longer benefits her- as seen with time and time again she complains about whole swaths of people who turned out to be ‘toxic/haters/etc’ on every website she goes onto. She’s never at fault. It’s clearly because she’s a woman and no other reason whatsoever.
And finally, this requires no screenshots but she changes projects on a dime and releases multiple unrelated shorts and pilots using the money pledged to her specifically for Hazbin Hotel. This is consistent with the past, she would randomly drop and move projects and leave everything unresolved.
In short: She’s very, very immature for someone close to 30 years old, picks public fights with random people- with a history of encouraging her fans/friends to attack others on her behalf- and is too stubborn to change anything in any way that she does. She feels opposition/critique are one in the same as mindless random hate and thrives on being ‘controversial’ as an opposition to defeat through doing exactly what she does- rather than give anything anyone says much of an honest listen.
