Summary:  Kisumi had been loose-lipped about secrets before, but after what he saw the night before, and what was just told to him during breakfast, there was no way this was leaving his lips, for more reasons than one. Maybe it was a werewolf thing, but Sousuke was in no way joking. This would be their secret, no matter how painful it would be to keep.

He told me his secret, but he didn’t exactly confide in me (which hurts, mind you). He definitely didn’t tell me that his injury would affect him to such lengths; that his long sought dream of standing on the same stage as Rin at the top of the world had, since long ago, crashed and burnt.

I knew his shoulder had broken down, but I didn’t realize his heart had too.

And now, according to him, after everything was over and done, his only option was to work at his father’s business.

“No!” I yelled at him, worried, after he finally deigned himself to speak to me (what am I, a pest? Rude) and explain, a week before graduation. “There has to be more than that!”

“That’s how it is, Kisumi.” Sousuke shrugged and sighed.

Now, let me tell you. I am not the type to get angry. I’ve never been. Not even when Hayato pulled my hair or when he kiddy-doodled on my asignments due for the next day when he was half his age.

But—and it definitely didn’t feel nice — I felt my blood boil. The nerve!

“…You-!” I took a raged breath, “You can’t possibly just- Give up!? What the heck, Sousuke!?”

He reached for the neck of my shirt and pulled me closer. He proceded to yell back at me with a sneer on his face. “What else do you want me to do?! It’s not like I have a back-up plan! I didn’t even apply for any university! It’s over!”

Yes, say whatever you want, but I could only think of Hayato’s bedtime stories. “But you haven’t reached your ‘Happily ever after’!”

Sousuke seemed taken aback for a second, but he caught on to what I meant. He let go of me.

“…That isn’t for me, and I don’t expect you to understand. The end. Period.” His voice had a tone of defeat and his eyes lost some of their luster.

I clenched my hands into tight fists. “You know… even if the stories say ‘The end.’, they aren’t exactly over, you know? The characters’ lives within the book still continue even after ‘The end.’” I averted my eyes. “…Your story can have a sequel.”

I looked back at Sousuke.

And his eyes glimmered with a tiny, tiny hint of hope.

I made myself cry u_u;

“Take care of it—I don’t care how, but Ichinose is way past his best before-date,” Kisumi says darkly, and Sousuke swallows hard, knowing it’s either Ichinose’s life or his own since Kisumi won’t allow another fuck-up on his part.

Kisumi’s right, though; that fucker named Ichinose has screwed them over so many times they probably can’t count it on ten fingers, and it’s become Sousuke’s task to take care of ‘the problem’, to take Ichinose out for good.

I was playing around with Kisumi’s hair and then soukisu happened oops no, no “oops” i meant every bit of this

Kisumi Day 2016.

When Hayato had said he wanted to come and stay with Kisumi for the weekend of his birthday, Kisumi had been more than excited. Sousuke would be busy for the weekend, unfortunately, something about getting roped into taking the shifts a co-worker had guilt-tripped Sousuke into taking. Rin had said there was some matters at his university he needed to attend to, and left it at that. A tiny pang of sadness that gone through him at the thought of not getting to see Rin’s face on Skype or feel Sousuke’s gentle but nervous fingers running on the inside of his wrists as he mumbled happy birthday as they wished Rin was with them. He could count on Makoto (and Haru by extension) to text him, but really, he was prepared to spend a birthday alone this year.

Then his little brother had called on the phone and asked if he wouldn’t mind him coming, with the promise of his Zootopia dvd for them to watch. He wasn’t about to deny his baby brother in the least and had arranged with his mother to take the train down to Sano and ride up with his brother on the Friday.

Hayato kicked his legs against the seat, beaming up at Kisumi as he cradled the chubby body of his Judy Hopps tsumtsum. Kisumi affectionately patted his head.
