yes season three means we get to see percy and annabeth dance but it also means:
percy watching annabeth be taken and absolutely crashing tf out to a point he literally describes the fear his stomach as feeling like he was "going to be sick".
percy having to go on a quest without annabeth and feeling responsible for her disappearance, as he was not able to prevent it, which drives his determination to succeed
percy having to tolerate nico's questions about annabeth being his girlfriend and even contemplating stuffing nico in a sack
percy knowing through a dream that annabeth is being manipulated by luke to hold up the goddamn sky
percy finding out that annabeth had almost become a hunter at one point when she was traveling with luke and thalia in her early days, and that the option remains open.
him being plagued by anxiety about her safety and her potential decision to join the hunters of artemis, which would mean leaving him permanently.
percy meeting aphrodite and being utterly stunned by her overwhelming beauty which shifts to look a lot like annabeth (okayperseus)
having the literal goddess of love point out his dreams and feelings for annabeth, pushing him to focus on their quest and hinting at the "tragic love story" she wants to see
percy missing annabeth at the hoover dam, thinking about how she would love that place if she were there.
percy having to meet frederick chase who is just a caring overwhelmed human trying to reconnect with his demigod daughter
percy getting to know that annabeth held up the sky(which is described as an unspeakable burden that brings the bearer to the very brink of death and insanity) for 22 hours
