i did research this past semester on desegregation in south carolina universities and there was SO much explicit documentation in the archives on the “need” to keep the required test scores where they were, or even raise them, rather than lower them to a more attainable level, to keep black students from gaining admittance to previously all-white universities. standardized tests have always been racist.
