Kauai, Hawaii

I think Hawaii is different for everyone, but Hawaii is my home. To me it’s a warm, humid hug. It’s the smell of flowers, the sunrise colors kissing my skin awake to greet the day, it’s the fresh caught ahi in my poke bowl (don’t forget the furikake), it’s the fuckin people, its the misty mountains mesmerizing me on my drive, it’s the sand in my hair at work on Monday, its the Aunty at Foodland who wants to talk story about my manicure, it’s a mixed plate that doesn’t mix as well as it seems it should, it’s the extremely problematic ethnic divides hidden under the swaying palm trees, its knowing that despite that you don’t want to raise your future children anywhere else, it’s the salty air telling stories, it’s the tattoos covering the beautiful bronzed skin. It’s a lot on these little isolated islands in the middle of the pacific, and it’s home.
