When is it going to be take your kids to work day? They should invent a take your kids to work week. That would be magnificent.

You’re not an old lady, but you can definitely use the rest. I hope the rocking chair is comfortable and you don’t wake up with a huge knot in your neck. Aw, I hope so! I’m so excited to see them.

I’m getting to be an old lady, or at least it feels that way. Oh. the rocking chair is magnificent. It’s sometimes more comfortable than sleeping in bed. 

I think I’m almost worried that I’ll try and pick them up and they’ll start shrieking. I want to say that time flies, but that makes me feel a dozen years older than I already am, but three? How has it been that long? Maybe you could color while they’re napping, unless you’re also sleeping then. I’ll come bearing washable markers and clothes I don’t mind ruining.

I have no idea how they’re already about to turn three. I feel like such an old lady, it’s almost insane. When the two of them are napping, I am out like a light. Most days during nap time, I don’t even make it out of their room, I just fall asleep in the rocking chair. I’ve been sleeping there for a good portion of the night too. Oh my goodness, Lo, they’re going to absolutely adore you, even more than they already do.

Good.

The terrible twos don’t sound too terrible. They’re still little, but they’ll probably start settling down a bit more as they get older. And if they’re not taking advantage of the books, more for you, right? They can draw on me when I drop by; it’ll be the closest I’ve come to getting a tattoo and it’ll rinse off soon enough.

You should hear them when they start screaming. My goodness, the sound is almost unbearable. I can’t even think about them getting older. I mean, they’re my little babies. It seems like it was just yesterday that I found I was pregnant, and now they’re going to be three in September. You’d be surprised at the lack of coloring I’ve done lately, it’s sad a little. I miss coloring, it was so relaxing. I’m sure they would just love being allowed to color all over someone, especially if that someone is their Aunt Spencer.

Missing out? No, never. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Neither would I.

I don’t think I have ever talked about someone like that before. Oh dear, two Anthony’s running around? That must be entertaining. He isn’t ripping the heads of her dolls, right? Has Eloise been gifted her first box of markers yet or is that more of Noah’s thing, do you know? 

It’s a lot to deal with, but between Eloise and me, I think we’re doing alright with handling them. He hasn’t started being mean to the dolls yet, which is a good sign. Eloise can usually get him to play with her for a little while, but then he gets bored and goes and builds things. I bought a box of markers and some new coloring books and I’ve been trying to get them to color, but usually then just end up getting marker all over themselves and all over me. We’re still working on it, but I have a feeling Eloise will be more my colorer.

Him and I always joke about how we need to put together bags for people who get nauseous hearing us talk to each other because of how cheesy we can be, and it’s just..I’ve never had that with someone, he hasn’t really either, so it’s nice having someone to learn it all with. Please stop me though, I could spend ages talking about him and I’m really interested in hearing about my niece and nephew and all of their milestones. Who’s more quiet?

It was fun hearing you talk about the two of you. I’ve never heard you talk like that before. Oh goodness, the quieter one? Well Eloise takes after me and Noah takes after Anthony, and neither of us are really considered quiet. But I guess Eloise is more quiet. She’s getting to be more prim and proper, and she just plays with her dolls quietly. Noah, on the other hand, doesn’t stop talking or making sounds. And when he plays with his toys, they end up from end of the house to the other.

Normal’s overrated. Too mainstream.

So you’re not afraid we’re missing out on too much?

I keep telling him that he’s ruined me. I was never this giddy before. It’s actually kind of disgusting.

I’ve always been a little too giddy for my own good, but I think it’s nice you’ve found someone like that. I think it’s really special.

Yeah, I agree. Do you ever wonder if we rushed into all this? I mean, I don’t regret anything but every now and then I remember how young we are and how young everyone else thought we were to do all this.

No, I don’t think we rushed into all of this, nor do I doubt anything we’ve done. I think about how different our lives would be if we were married without kids, or if we were still just dating. We’d be a lot more normal for our age, that’s for sure.
