Idk if you’ve been asked this before lol but when is Cove’s birthday?

He was born November 2nd, 1997!

How do you feel about fan made merch? Like if someone wanted to post designs onto redbubble. I’ve been curious especially since I know there is no official merch.

Generally, we don’t mind people selling their own merch of the game. Though, there are probably theoretical limits, aha. We wouldn’t really be comfortable with people investing lots and lots of money into having big batches of merch done in advanced where they’re now relying on us devs to keep the game popular/well-liked for quite a while in order to make what they spent back. And we wouldn’t want to be in a situation where people to be need us, the developers, to not make our own merch ever because the competition of that could potentially be harmful to them. But I doubt that kind of situation will happen. So, basically, as long as it’s a low key and casual selling endeavor, or Our Life is just one part of a bigger fanworks merch business, there shouldn’t be any issues.

Also, it’s not part of the question but it is relevant so I’ll also mention it, we won’t be able to promote unofficial merch. We won’t be upset if you “at” us to share what you made, we just can’t reblog it or anything. We can only promote our own merch, if we ever make it, and can’t give endorsements to fanmerch since we’re not involved in the making/selling of it.

do you have plans to expand on the content from steps 1-3 as DLC for more material over all? or is that like- way too much work? :s

The DLCs that are still coming are listed HERE. And there will be some Patreon bonus content, which you can read more about in the FAQ. So there are some more things related to Steps 2 and 3 still coming, but it might not have been what you had in mind. I’m sorry for that. We got an ask about a similar topic, that kind of continues the conversation.

Cove is such a precious baby, i wish we have more DLC :( would you consider ever doing something like step 1.5 DLC? Or step 5 onwards? Let me throw money at you for creating this perfect cinnamon roll <3 

Unfortunately not. We do love OL: B&A and Cove very much, but we’ve promised other projects too and we’re really excited to start working on them. Maaaybe someday we can come back and do some more small extras for the original Our Life, however even if we do, it likely won’t be the same size as the original set of DLCs. Releasing little Patreon bonus things might also be possible. Hopefully the other games we make will be just as fun!

Hi, i just had a question about the upcoming 18+ DLC if that’s okay, is the DLC gonna be for all three of the boys or is it just Cove? And if so, will there be 18+ DLC’s for Baxter and Derek too? 

It’s only Cove. Right now we don’t have plans for Derek and Baxter 18+ DLCs. We could potentially see how things go after the first piece of bonus content is done. Possibly more 18+ extras could be done. 

when the Baxter & Derek’s DLCs release, do the players need to play all the game again? like, do you need to do a whole gameplay to get to their routes (setting the relationship w/ Cove to be a simply friendship) or are the dlcs going to be like a side-story (with no relation to the main story w/ Cove)?

The Derek and Baxter stories begin with new Moments being added to Step 2 and Step 3, respectively. If you wanna start Derek’s romance you’ll either need to load a save that has access to the Step 2 Moment screen or start a new file and skip until you’re in Step 2. Baxter is the same, except with the Step 3 Moment Selection screen. You can start their romance while crushing on Cove. It’s possible to be interested in more than one person at a time, you just can only officially start dating one guy.

There’s gonna be an Our Life 2? Is it going to be with Cove and everyone else or completely new characters? 

It’s gonna be a new cast, new setting, and new story. But all the best features of Our Life: Beginnings & Always (like growing up together, no bad endings, and a super custom MC) will be a part of it.

Hi, love the games, I was just wondering if you could be so kind as to give any kind of hint on what the main love interest in Our Life 2 is going to be like? I’m very hyped for it and can’t wait to see what it’s going to be like.

I’m glad you’re looking forward to it! We are preparing to start sharing hints about the two main LIs early next year, but I’m afraid we’re not doing it yet. At least on public social media. You can already hear some tidbits about them as a special bonus on our Patreon~

I have a somewhat tame NSFW ask, I hope you don’t mind. Would Cove feel more confident dirty talking over the phone via call or text, than in person? Or would he not be into that much? I was just curious cuz sometimes the shy/quiet ones can have some surprisingly top tier dirty talk skills 👀

Haha, Cove sucks at dirty texting for a long time in the relationship. He’d just stare at the screen overthinking every possible thing he could type and desperately wondering what the MC is thinking/feeling on the other end. But if they were calling where he could still hear the MC’s voice and he just had to start letting words fall out rather than needing to more decisively type out each word, it would start to go better sooner. It’d still take time and trying more than once, however he could for sure get into it. Though, he’d struggle to keep it really “sexy” and would end up getting cutesy/giddy over the attention he was getting.

Is the game our life a mobile game if not can you make it a mobile game because I don’t have a computer or laptop to play it on and I was looking forward for it, can it be a mobile app if so please, Im sorry if I’m asking so much of you if you could do so I will be looking forward to it, thanks you. 

You can get it for Android on Itch.io! Sadly, we’re not able to release it for IOS at this time. Maybe someday we’ll have the means to do so.

Hello hello! I was going for a very shy and sweet/passive type of MC but at the Barbeque scene I keep getting the defiant “Yeah, so?” response when sticking with moms. I’ve tried using different responses prier to that scene but still get the same thing. Are there any variants that I’m just not meeting or is that the only shy response type? Thanks for the help and happy holidays!

Thank you for mentioning it. That’s the “Direct” response. It was a programming line error that caused it to show during the “Nervous” version of the scene. It’ll be fixed whenever the next update comes out!

You can choose to own pets, but sadly you won’t get to actually see them.

Would you guys ever add poly relationships to the game?

We’re not able to add poly relationships to already released games, but we do hope to include poly relationships in future projects!

Is Sunset Bird based on any particular town/multiple towns in Southern California? If not, totally cool! Just curious. :)

Kind of. It’s based on towns I remember seeing while going to the beach as kid as well as some research as an adult, but there isn’t one or more specific towns I can name as being major inspirations. I don’t remember the names of places from when I was little and used too many different references when looking back into SO-Cal beach towns as an adult.

If Jamie called cove the love of their life while he was around them how exactly would he respond? 

It would depend on his age, their relationship, his personality, etc. But I’d say it’s a safe bet that he’d cry, haha. I’m afraid we can’t do headcanon-y/scenario types of asks very well because of all the alteration possiblities involved and because they’re a bit too time consuming. I’m sorry for that.

I’m trying to figure out how to make Cove kiss me in the ending at Step 2, and I don’t know what to do. 

Minor spoilers. Cove doesn’t truly take the initiative in Step 2 no matter what, your MC always has to make the first move. But it is possible for the first move you make not to work out and then Cove picks things up and takes the reins from there. That’s probably what people were talking about if you heard it was possible for Cove to kiss the MC in Step 2. There are two methods to make that kind of thing happen.

1. Try to kiss him in the loft in Road Trip. During the “and then summer ended” scenes Cove will bring that situation back up.

2. Don’t try to kiss him in the loft, choose to want to share your feelings in the ending scenes, decide to express your feelings with a kiss, and attempt to kiss him very cautiously/slowly.

Would Shiloh and Liz have gotten together if Shiloh didn’t move away? They’re both really cute, honestly

“No” is my thought, but people are welcome to headcanon/write fanfics about it if they want to anyways. Liz is three years older, Shiloh was her tiny boy who could never keep up. Odds are she would’ve taken a big sister role in his life that’d be very difficult to shake off, even when the age difference stopped mattering much. And, well, who knows how Shiloh would feel about trying to date someone he’s known for that long. I’m happy you think they’re cute, though.

I like to joke that if Cove was in a yandere game, the problem wouldn’t be that he was a yandere but that other people kept being too willing to die/kill for his sake. Tensions would be high over him, and since Cove tends to get into trouble there’d be deaths left and right without him really getting why, haha.

Hi! I’m really sorry if this has been asked before or it’s a stupid question but how will Derek and Baxter’s DLCs work? I mean, will they be like an alternative reality in which MC and Cove don’t have “a thing” for each other? Or will we have to start another game just to romance them?

By the way, can I take a moment to tell you how much I love and appreciate you for creating this wonderful game? Our life has literally made me happier this last month, so thank you so much for that. Hope you have an amazing day 🥺

This may have been answered already, but how will the Derek/Baxter DLC work? Will they add new scenes to already existing moments, or new moments entirely?

We got two asks about how the DLCs work, so we’ll answer them together. And I really appreciate the kind words!

The DLCs will add new Moments to the Step the guy appears in, Step 2 and 3, and they’ll add brand new branches to the Step 4 epilogue. You can still play the normal story in Steps 1-3 while doing the Derek and Baxter DLC stuff, but you will have to choose an alternate version of Step 4 to finish their story once you reach that point. You’re able to be at “crush” with Cove while getting closer to the other boys, you just can’t be in an official relationship with him.

What years do the steps all take place in? 

These are when the Steps take place- Step 1: 2006 Step 2: 2011 Step 3: 2016 Step 4: 2021 

Will you announce the 18+ content before it gets posts=ed so people have a chance to join the Patreon in time? 

Yep! We’ll be sure to let people following us know when the Patreon Moment is gonna be available and we’ll announce when it has officially released.

Will the side characters be making appearances in step 4? (Shiloh, Derek Jeremy, Baxter) 

Derek and Baxter will, Shiloh and Jeremy won’t. And there will be other side characters who make an appearance in Step 4 as well.

Will step 4 be with money or will it have moments that are DLC and has moments that aren’t DLC? because I enjoyed the fact that I can just play the game or add DLC 

The Step 4 epilogue itself is free, and there will be an optional wedding DLC that’s paid.

Excuse my (probably) stupid questions. First question: How tall is Cove in phase 2, since it says you’re around his height with the “Very tall” option. (If you can provide height ranges for each option when answering this, that would be much appreciated… I’m very curious). Second question: Are people allowed to write fanfiction based on their personal play-throughs of the game? 

You can check out Cove’s height in the FAQ. I’m afraid the MC doesn’t have a set height range of specific feet and inches. The options available are left vague so the player has room to fill in the blank with the exact height that they want themselves.
