So, the Indonesian Ministry of Communications and Informations literally just banned Tumblr today.

1. The Content Complaint Team has received complaints from the public regarding the immoral content on the T*mb r platform. After searching and analyzing contents, there are more than 360 immoral accounts on social media t*mb*r dot com and on its app.

2. It is also found that T*mb*r did not have report tools and mechanism to report immoral contents.

3. On 28 February 2018, later the Content Complaint Team sent a notification through e-mail to T*mb*r and asked to wipe out their platform from immoral contents, with the maximum handling time of 2 X 24 hours.

4. Until the time limit is given, there is no response from T*mb*r, so blocking action against 8 DNS T*mb*r is done on Monday, March 5, 2018 afternoon.

The ministry recieves a bunch of complaints (which I don’t know where they get the complaints from) about inappropriate contents all over tumblr. They have found over 360 inappropriate accounts and decided to SHUT DOWN the entire thing. Yes, the whole thing. 

They also stated that tumblr doesn’t give a platform to report inappropriate, most importantly, immoral contents; which is a big. fat. lie.

To me, this whole thing is a huge bs. The ministry think tumblr is a dangerous website filled with inappropriate content. But they also don’t think that most of huge mainstream websites are also filled with “immoral” contents. You literally can search pornographic videos on twitter in a matter of seconds. But they don’t ban it? It just doesn’t makes sense.
