“you watch tv much? i mean, shit that their assumption would straight be that you got knocked up a sophomore, that definitely says something ‘bout the state of the world. i bet you though, they were cringin’ at the thought of it just as much as you were, they probably figured you were looking to become a reality star; thought they’d be helping the cause. although i think it’s a little late for ‘fifteen and pregnant’ to actually catch, so maybe... they were just assholes. kinda wouldn’t be surprised by either, so... i guess i just worked my way to deciding that you’re not overreacting, damn. people suck. on the other hand, modesty also ain’t all that. can’t knock bein’ a little eaten up ‘til you’ve tried it.”

doing nothing at all was how dj spent most of his days off, and frankly, that was the way he liked it. he had movies to watch, playlists to make, weed to smoke. there were also naps thrown in too, usually, but only when he got bored of everything else. somewhere between his second movie, and the nap he was heavily contemplating taking as the images on the screen began to amuse him less and less, his phone vibrated on the table in front of him. as per usual, there was an internal debate as to whether or not dj actually wanted to check it, or leave it for another time, and unlike most times, his conscious actually won. there was a small groan as the boy leaned forward and scooped up the iphone, lit the screen just long enough to skim the text. and then, registering xio’s name, he actually unlocked the device and read the message over again with a bit more attention. admittedly, at first he regretted reading the message at all. then he remembered his fondness for calli, realizing that there were... well, definitely worse toddlers he could spend an afternoon with. a majority of them, really. ‘is the lion king acceptable content? pretty down with most disney cartoons actually. if not held accountable for anything that slips my mouth, count me in’ he tapped out quickly, then leaned back with the phone resting on his stomach, watching the movie he already had on as he waited to hear back if she needed him.

“if you work for a guy with mad interesting eyebrows, you gotta let me know straight up. ‘cause if i can relive my favourite walter white moment I think I could die right then and there, happily,” was dj’s excited, yet equally playful response upon hearing what it was sodapop would be doing. though in reality, he related all too well to the hell his friend was going through jumping from shitshow to shitshow, all for the sake of survival. he was considering asking the other boy to scoff him an air freshener sometime, he liked the bubblegum ones, but decided against it. “i was teachin’ a dance class, i do a few throughout the week, makes for good practice. not as much as i’d like to be dancing, but it’s better than what i got in new york,” he explained, grinning as he raised a hand, fingers posed to signify a whole lot of nothing, “so, not much juice, really... more time for that adventure, hm? what’cha got in mind for us?” finding random shit they could do to take their minds off whatever was going on, seemed to be soda’s calling, and dj was always pumped at the prospect of it.
