SPEED

Just starting I'd recommend you to learn some words and the basic grammar. I don't have any good material but I'm shure you'll find sth. decent. But to really step up your game, you have to talk German. The big problems for native english speakers are eg to remember the gender of a word (the tree - der Baum, the milk - die Milch, the unicorn - das Einhorn), to stress or not stress words in a sentence or to proper use grammar. And if you became a good speaker and learned to love our language, you can look into German poetry or prosa. But this step is completely optional. Even many Germans don't like to read old poems or dramas (Goethe, Schiller etc.) Good luck :)
