KimoNovember 2025! Managed to participate daily, and quite happy that I got to try out a number of items I rarely coordinate, and also some new colour combinations. Lessons I’ve learned: I can only coordinate a maximum of 2 outfits per day, after that I get bored 😂 Also, I have a lack of wearable red, yellow and orange in my kimono collection - will need to work on fixing that!

Some recent yukata coords I’ve put together!
The first coord is featuring a newly received Kimonomachi yukata that I’ve paired with a hanhaba obi I’ve had for at least 15 years now.
The second coord is an attempt at a bug themed coordinate - this Tsumori Chisato yukata is one I’ve had since 2004, and has some dark blue dragonflies on it. I’ve paired it with a Kimonomachi obi that came with another yukata I bought for last summer. I also added a butterflies obidome, though I think I would prefer a different obidome with this coord.
The last coord is meant to be Tanabata-themed, but is only vaguely related to the theme due to the Keita Maruyama yukata’s constellations pattern, but the white wavy bits kind of look like the river that separates the lovers? Anyway I have paired it with the lace side of a reversible obi purchased on Minne last year, as well as a fuurin obidome to up the summery feels.
Another kimono coordinate for hydrangea season! This time, I am using a hydrangea print hanhaba obi from Kimonotte, a hand-painted glass obidome I bought from an artist on YJA years ago, some hydrangea hairpins from my hanfu collection, and a brand new hydrangea folding fan from Daiso. I’m using a seashell shaped handbag because why not 🙂
Anot her coord in honour of the Arimatsu Shibori festival, featuring a tailored-to-order shibori yukata from last year’s Arimatsu festival! Paired with a rainbow piano obi that was a 30th birthday gift from a beloved group of friends, and a natural-dyed handbag bought from a local crafts fair at the office.
This yukata is actually pretty hard to coordinate, but I’ve found that I really like blue with it!
Feeling inspired for a coordinate, with this month being Arimatsu’s shibori festival, and also with hydrangeas being in season! This yukata is from Arimatsu, purchased via a proxy during one of the festivals years ago.
I double layered the obi for an added pop of colour, and also because the blue hakata obi is actually a little short for me. I matched that to my geta and handbag.
The obidome and obikazari are both hydrangea themed as well!

洗える着物 KIMONOMACHI
KimoNovember Day 12: Tolkien inspired! The houmongi has a snowy mountaintop pattern that reminds me of the Misty Mountains. The obi reminds me of the White Tree of Gondor (albeit much bushier than how the book described it…). The birds obidome are for the thrushes in The Hobbit. It’s been a while since I coordinated something formal! Sadly, both kimono and obi are a bit too stained to be worn formally, but I love that it relates to one of my fandoms!
New Maiko in Kochi! She debuted on 15. Jun 2024, her name is Haruchiyo (春千代).

It’s yukata season!
Actually, I was coordinating outfits for an upcoming group dress up haha. These photos are the resulting selections I offered them!
Dressed up to meet with friends at the Japan Expo at Pavilion Bukit Jalil! It was a mad rush to do my hair, slap on some make up and wear my yukata after church this morning, but I got it all done in half an hour!
For me, the key highlight of today’s stage performance was Hanazono Naomichi - no regrets rushing through everything to get there in time to watch his performance!
I wore a Taisho Roman inspired kimono to a J fashion meet today!
Not really in-season for anywhere in the world (hitoe + kasane eri = weird combination), but since we haven’t really got seasons here, I figured I’d just go with what I felt like wearing. I actually coordinated this 3 years ago but ended up wearing another obi instead.
AThe kimono is a polyester print from Kimonomachi, and the obi is a double sided Taisho Roman reprint kyobukuro obi from Ichiroya.
Back when Covid lockdowns first stared and I had to WFH, I decided to dress up for work to cheer myself up. I did a full week of yukata! Some of them were only put on for a few minutes before I had to dress in proper work clothes for meetings, but it was still fun! And I also got to try out new coordinates for old yukata, so that was great!
Last week, a friend and I got dressed up in yukata to go see a kimono exhibition at a local mall! They had moved it to a smaller area, but having all of them in a small space made them easier to view. They also had some booths and photo areas done up!
It’s been a looooong time since I last wore yukata out!

Haven’t done a floordinate in ages!! Was feeling inspired today after rummaging through my closet for a while, this time, it’s a casual coordinate with my prettiest kimono! This coordinate should be suitable for mid-late June, given the hitoe kimono, summer fabric obi and hydrangea motif. Added a brolly for rainy season!
