Way back in my TG days I saw an explanation of otherkin identity that stuck with me as someone who doesn't always feel nonhuman. And it was something like this.

You're not a pie chart, 75% human and 25% kintype. You're more of a lightbulb, using 100% of its power (100% human) but with a shade in front of it colouring the light, colouring your experiences. This doesn't detract from the lightbulb, which is still a complete lightbulb. But it changes how the world looks, and makes people say not just light, but (colour) light.

I'm fully a person, chop me up and analyse me, results 100% human. But meet me, observe me, and I'm a fox person. A fairy person. It's still what I am.
