if you're unfamiliar with yo-kai watch: when you are outside at any time Terror Time may occur in which the entire world turns black and white and a giant demon spawns nearby and starts walking through the streets and you have to hide and try to get to the (also randomly spawning) exit and if it/its minions spot you it will chase you down very fast and wipe your party persona reaper style. at any time. entirely random. godbless level 5

in level 5's recent rpgs (at least for ni no kuni 2 and fantasy life i) they've been making it so there's a certain threshold of side content you have to complete before continuing with the main story at certain points and i HATEEEE ITTTTTT!!!!!!!!! under zero circumstances should i be forced to go do side quests instead of progressing the story. and i would probably go do them anyway at some point too but when i'm in the middle of a main story session and i get the Uh Oh! You actually need this amount of people in your town to continue the story. Sorry! dialogue it does not make me want to go do side quests it makes me turn the damn game off

pleaseee just let me progress at my own pace PLEASE these thresholds suck both for interrupting the main story for no reason and because if they're gating me because they're worried i'm underleveled it's like. how do they know that. different players have different skill levels. when a story gate forces me to level up to the average level it sucks both when i'm good at the game (i'm now overleveled so everything is too easy) and when i'm bad (i'm still underleveled at the point they're expecting me to be fine at so now i just feel bad) LET ME LEVEL TO THE APPROPRIATE POINT FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#yo-Kai watch does this in 2 and 3 #they lock the main story and make you do side quests it sucks #it makes narrative sense but it doesn’t stop it from being annoying.#idk. in ykw it makes more sense since they split it up into mini main missions but it’s still so annnoyimg

PLEASE DO NOT harvest and ingest wild poison-be-gone if you don't know what you're doing!! The leaves of a poison-be-gone look VERY SIMILAR to baneflower leaves which are DEADLY POISONOUS!!! I just got someone in who made this mistake and he was very lucky to survive :(

Baneflowers are completely safe to touch, though they are deadly poisonous if you ingest them. OP may have been thinking of the Hamelin children's tale about the Dark Djinn putting baneflowers around Nevermore to ward off people attempting to overthrow him, and only the Pure-Hearted One could cut them down.

The Esther inside my head:

legitimately will defend esther until the day i die idc. i dont care that she dies a lot thats a skill issue on your part . of course she dies to moltaan thats a really annoying fight and legitimately super hard. 'she burns through her mp' gogo is a familiar with a higher magical attack than physical. if you want her to stop burning through her mp give her a familiar with high physical and magical attack. 'she doesnt have much of a personality' thats because level 5 hates women. plus if she was a boy that probably wouldnt matter to you much honestly. she has some and that can be built on. you can analyse things she says. 'shes useless' oh sorry would you prefer marcassin? would you rather defence buffs be a whole thing rather than a nice song and then oh you take less damage! also again have you considered giving her better familiars. shes a healer she will heal you but also shes really good at fighting actually. early game she struggles yeah but of course she does?? early game has moltaan. people are so quick to judge her based on how she dies during moltaan but at least for me shes really good in the other battles. i love her so much shoutout to esther. they could never make me hate you

and of course lest i forget to mention: the manzai thing almost certainly means more to drippy than it does to oliver. drippy grew up in a comedy centric culture. being referred to as a comedy duo probably signifies a very close bond (and is possibly why drippy is so offended by oliver saying "who do you mean?" at the start of the game (or he could be playing it up for dramatic effect (most likely both))).

this is the case with a lot of things drippy does, where it means a lot more to drippy than it does to oliver: he calls him ollie-boy because his family calls him drippy-boy. he calls him boy bach because his mother calls him drippy bach (bach, of course, meaning little in welsh - these terms mean little boy and little drippy respectively). he's been this kid's doll for years and drippy knows oliver but oliver doesn't know drippy. it's awesome
