Kill the Wanderer

"You're on a path. At the end of that path, there is a forest. Hiding in that forest, there is a Wanderer. You are here to kill her. If you don't, it will be the end of the world."

"What?"

Voice of the Adventurer: "No, don't just leave! We have to figure out what's going on."

"Where are you going? Do you not care about everyone's death?"

"Surely you can do that after you saved the world! If you don't, you won't have a home to come back to."

Voice of the Adventurer: "Do we even have a home in the first place? I can't remember..."

"Of course you do. Don't worry about it."

"But you don't listen to my advice of 'Not letting the world and everyone in it die a tragic and easily preventable death, and turn around. However..."

"Where one might expect the forest to end, it doesn't. Instead, there is simply more forest."

"Oh, look like there's nothing to do but go into the woods and kill the Wanderer."

Voice of the Adventurer: "What? That's not fair! You can't do that!"

"I thought you wanted us to go into the woods?"

Voice of the Adventurer: "But we don't have a choice anymore!"

"I am not letting you give up when the world is on the line."

Voice of the Adventurer: "What about after we do it?"

"I'll tell you how to leave, but only once that's done."

Voice of the Adventurer: "That's blackmail!"

"And? Need I remind you what's at stake?"

Voice of the Adventurer: "Ugh."

"Then you'll wait until the end of the world."

Voice of the Adventurer: "I guess we'll have to!"

"And so you do. You stand there, still as a rock, as the sun makes its slow descent through the white sky. It is painful uninteresting, but you don't have anywhere else to look."

Voice of the Adventurer: "This is boring. Nevermind, let's go into the woods."

"But you don't wait forever."

Voice of the Adventurer: "Huh? What's happening?"

"You should've listened to me."

"A faint silhouette, dressed in sage, stands on the border of the trees."

Voice of the Adventurer: "Is that... her?"

"This is bad. You shouldn't have waited here. Now she found you, and you're unarmed."

Voice of the Adventurer: "Does she have a weapon?"

"Doesn't matter. Go get yours and kill her before she kills you."

Voice of the Adventurer: "Where is it?"

"At the end of that path. There's a tree stump, it's stuck inside."

Voice of the Adventurer: "But if it's stuck inside, how are we supposed to get it?"

"It'll work! Just do it if you don't want to die!"

[You approach the mirror.]

[Approach her.]

"This one is reason above all else. Her heartlessness allowed Her to be just and impartial. She will make for a logical heart."

"Do not mourn her, for you never knew her."

"Not always."

"In the end, the choice belongs to us. We can still be kind to eachother, if you want to."

"Mistakes will happen. We must move past them."

"Expanding, my roots stretching towards until then unseen waters and exploring their depths."
