CPH Kids, the Danish fashion fair, opened this year with a catwalk show of the main exhibitors. This summer's styles have seen little divergence from the now popular 'Scandinavian chic', but have portrayed the Scandinavian's amazing illustrative designs. Labels such as Soft Gallery, New Generals and Gro showed their strengths both with graphic images as well as silhouettes.

There is a feeling for a looser baggier silhouette with oversized tops and looser cut trousers. For girls dresses are often fitted or gathered at the waist and then allowed to flare out with volume skirts, for boys, denim blazer jackets make a return alongside crop slimmer bomber styles.

As in other fashion trade fairs there is a smattering of neon used for accessories and details but it is a little less here than at Pitti Bimbo or Bubble London.Colour is still strong otherwise but in shades of orange, sugar pink, grass green, yellow and electric blue as the main tones. Black and white are always a popular combination for Scandinavian brands too in the kids market, the parents here don't seem to find it as intimidating as some in the UK would.

Prints are always split between graphic and Liberty style florals here. It is interesting to see Christina Rohde's SS13 collection which retains the florals for buyers who love them, but also includes graphic prints in strong colours over cotton loose tops and skirts.

Meanwhile, in kidswear...The charity, Children in Need, is renowned for its collaborations with celebrities and to get the ball rolling this year, the familiar faces that make up the Designers at Debenhams collection have created a range of charity children's T-shirts. Matthew Williamson, Henry Holland and Ben de Lisi are amongst the 12 designers.

Meanwhile, in kidswear...

The Fashion Factory hosted its annual show on Sunday, starring the industry's youngest design stars. The public event, which was attended by leading fashion names including Suzy Menkes and Celia Birtwell, saw 32 girls aged between 8 to 15 take to the catwalk to showcase creations that they had created over the past six months - all using second-hand fabrics and clothes. Highlights included drop-waisted dresses with pocket detailing and vibrant prints; full-skirted dresses with Peter Pan collars; and bright, tie-dye playsuits.

The project was first launched in 2009 by former designer Amanda Riley, who made her first dress using her grandmother's sewing machine when she was just eight years old, and aims to teach young girls how to make their own interpretations of catwalk looks using recycled clothes. The girls are given lessons on pattern-cutting, sewing machine techniques and surface patterns and then given the opportunity to showcase their creations on the catwalk at the end of the course.
