What do you know?
G) What do you think about the current laws for intellectual properties? T) I honestly think that the current laws are very unclear, like I am taking a business law class, and for those laws are really hard to distinguish. It's more like based off of what you personal think. People can have different ideals of what can be considered copy write and when we were going over it in my B law class I had a really hard time distinguishing like what would be considered copying or what wouldn't because its really unclear to me. It's mostly on ideas and stuff rather than copying the music. G) What rights do you think creators have? T) I think they have the right to the idea and for example in music they have the right to the music itself. G) So they should be the only ones to handle the music and distribute them? T) Don't they do that now? Like if you want a music that is written by a singer, pop star, don't you have to get permission to reproduce that song? G) Yeah, if you would want to use it in a commercial. T) So that would be like stealing if they didn't get permission. G) What rights do you think they should have? T) I think that the rights they have now are okay but I think the unclear aspect of what is stealing and what is not. That needs to be a rubric of what is what because its what you know personal. G) Have you pirated media yourself? T) I did before but I usually get people to do it for me G) At one point have you ever purchased and CD's or off iTunes? T) Yeah I bought CDs but never off iTunes. G) With sites like bit torrent, limewire, and converters what is you take on that, should we banned these sites or fine people for the illegal downloads? T) I personally wouldn't want these sites to be taken down because there goes my free songs. Morally correct I should say that people should get punished for excessively downloading this media. People should regulate more rather than trying to catch everybody. They should just get the people that have been doing it a lot and trying to sell it for money. G) Do you think the actual creators of the sites should be punished instead of the downloaders? T) I think it should be split half and half because it takes two.

America's Army
Dr. Jonna Eagles presentation about Fighting in America’s Army was very interesting from the videos she presented to the actual hard facts about America’s Army and her very intellectual prospective. How she became interested in body and embodiment and also war and video games was through her studies with film. It was influenced by the ideas of how the relationship between the spectators to the screen, as she stated. But that was dissatisfying because it was more focused on looking relation and nothing to do with the body. She talks about cinema of attraction how it addresses situation very directly and very aggressive, it shows you how it feels to feel something like getting run over by a horse carriage.
When talking about first person shooter games I began to think about the first person shooter games I play, Call of Duty and Battlefield 3, and how she states that “you are the impulse”.  So I begin to think, what does that mean? But it was pretty simply your pretty much that avatar you may not be physically there in the war or feeling the blast from exploding cars or even the pain from being shot or worst dying but it gives that sensory feeling. Dr. Eagle then proceeds about America’s Army game, which is a game developed by the military many for recruiting. Users of a certain age would be able to download this game for free the military website and what I found out that was interesting was the two-thirds of the users that downloaded this game also click on the Go Army link which gave information about the Army and about signing up. This was the most successful recruiting technique since Uncle Sam. This type of game gave virtual applications of military training to the civilian’s disposal giving that experience of combat.
This also comes to my comparison between Dr. Eagle’s and Stahl’s take on war and video games and I would think they would both agree with each other how virtual and real are becoming coherent. In Stahl reading he states that military and video game industry production work together to create something really authentic and how this gives users the basic idea of war and more so training. Dr. Eagle stated about how the military, Hollywood and the gaming industry making games more sophisticated how playing at war and training for war are almost becoming the same thing because simulation training for the army are mirror images of an actual first person shooter game.

Does Pinterest interest you?
Jenkins refers to collective intelligence as the “ability of virtual communities to leverage the combines expertise of their members.” He then states that “...these new communites are defined through voluntary, temporary, and tactical affliations, reaffirmed throught common intellectual enterprise and emotional investments. Members may shirt from one group to another as their interests and needs change, and they may belong to more than one community…” Pinterest meets what Jenkins definition of collective intelligence is. Users from around the world converse to one website to share and offer insight to the numerous category they offer. When people sign up they are not limited to one category, it is whatever the user is interested in and they can be interested in multiply categories
So what does Pinterest aim for? It is to make the user interface easier to bring together and piece ideas throughout the World Wide Web. Users are able to search for things in the many categories like travel, fashion, cars, art, photography, sports just to name a few and it allows you to create and manage things of your interest in one website. Users use what is called a pinboard to save, like photos of other people’s creations and also to able to construct your own creation, which are called pins. When I first made an account to do this write up I felt that Pinterest does exactly what it set out to accomplish. When people want to search for a do it yourself idea, say for a birthday gift, instead of using Google and finding random ideas that might not strike your interest. Pinterest offers that place to go to, to find those ideas and it offers stability because you may have not been the first one to come up with that idea. So you eliminate that trial and error process because people before you have perfected it. So how can you use Pinterest? Ever felt like you wanted to be spontaneous and surprise your girlfriend with some home cook food but don’t have any ideas. By clicking on the “food & drink” link you are present with an abundant source of ideas.
Membership is an easy process. You load up the Pinterest website and there will be a “Join Pinterest” link, click that and it will take you to the sign up process. With other social website like Facebook and Twitter you are able to sign up through those accounts. I guess it’s a way to show your friends or followers what you’ve looked up and to get them to be interest in Pinterest. And if you are not the type that doesn’t have a Facebook or twitter accounts don’t worry you can also sign up using your everyday email. Just clicks the “sign up with your address” link follow the directions and then you are set.

What would I do without you
After doing this experiment it made myself realize how much I depend on my phone whether it be to keep in contact with others or just to have some kind of entertainment when I’m bored. In the morning the first thing I do when I wake up is to check my email to see if there is any news from any of my classes or just news in general so I’m up to date. Going on with my day I didn’t even bother to even bring my phone along with me and during the experiment I had already felt that sense of emptiness like there was something missing. I think one of the good things I got out of this was that there wasn’t any distraction. For example during class if I’m bored, not paying attention and not taking any notes I’d either go on my phone to play games or just go on the internet to look up stuff. So by not having access to that I had a better sense of focus and I was able to understand the material of my classes better. Now not having access to being able to contact people my daily routine was disrupted because after my first class I have a long break till my next one. So beforehand I had to notify people about this experiment I was doing and that I wasn’t going to be in contact through my cell phone. This required me to do a little bit of planning ahead of time and staying true so any mishaps would be avoided. There was this one incident where my engineering professor had emailed the class an extra credit set problems and he emailed it the night before so I wasn’t able to check my email. It was a onetime deal and this professor rarely sends out extra credit so this was something that I missed out on. At the end of the day I realized how technology makes our lives more convenient giving us access to things we weren’t able to possess before. Like the internet, when we don’t know something we can just look it right away from our mobile devices. We can also check and send emails, text messages and photos to other people. Since most of us seem to be dependent on technology an absents of it for just a day seems to alter the routines in life to something simple as meeting with friends to something unexpected like a missed extra credit opportunity. Another thing I concluded was that it required a lot of patients. I didn’t have that response of feedback as quickly as a press of a button. If I wanted to talk to someone without having the option of calling that person I would have to wait until I see that person. Overall this was an interesting experience that can give us a different perspective on life and show us how important and vital it is to have these types of advancement.

Hacking?
The article said that there was a talk titled "how to Hack your school's network," and that the speaker wasn't encouraging kids to break rules. Wouldn't this give kids the idea to do so? How did school's react to this?
How did these students who went to this camp turn out? Did any of them become hackers?
If Hoff wanted kids to ask more questions about the technology and systems why did he choose hacking?
where are we going now?
So in this time in life we are facing many crises’ like pollution and depleting of our oil supply. But in a way we are all taking a step to a greener and less fossil fuel dependency by recycling, buying more fuel efficient cars and trying to make inefficient things more efficient and so on. Incipit of going green or being more efficient there are some companies that are somewhat ignoring that. In an article I read entitled Power, Pollution and the Internet it tells us that larger companies that require using buildings full of servers to operate their company are using a lot of electricity as much to power up a medium size city. These computer servers need electric to operate and having a building full of them overheating can occur so what do you do about that? Have a cooling system. When a computer overheats it will crash and you can loses a lot of data including important ones so a cooling system helps but that also takes up a lot of energy to support the load. Google and Facebook’s data center consumes nearly 400 million watts. Now I know we are at fault because as the users for these sites these companies are only trying to compensate for the amount of people using them. With all the in the world technology and intelligence I’m sure they can come up with a better way of producing these kind of consumption because with the way the amount of data and energy being used we all can suffer from it.

iphone 5, iphone 5, iphone 5
This whole iPhone craze has been around since I guess the first time apple had announced its release of the first generation of the iPhone. By the looks of how technology is progressing the popularity of apple products have much booming. I myself am in this bandwagon for iPhones, I think I've had my hands on every iPhone apple has brought out but I don't necessarily have them all I either lost it or broke it. Now I'm sitting here with the 4s waiting for my contract to end to upgrade to the 5.
Around the world thousand of eager fans, enthusiasts, collects and everyday users are waiting in line just to get there hands on this technological advanced devise. I think many people take it way to far just to be the first. A person in Sydney waited in line three days before the release date to get the first spot in line. Now I haven't done something outrageous like that maybe just stand several hours for Black Friday. Now iPhones sales has been down since the release of the 4s but that's mainly because of the iPhone 5. People waited out sticking with the 4, instead of upgrading to the 4s. And there's noting wrong with that apple should've jus waited themselves too. Instead of coming out with something similar to the 4 but just with the addition of Siri it's petty much the same phone. Anyways apple is projected to ship out over 10million iPhones by the this month and it is also expect help boost the US economy  in the forth quarter. And you can count me in that Ill be getting an new iPhone but I won't be stand in the line. I'll just be waiting for my contract to end.

Some where out there
I recently stumbled upon this article on yahoo news and astronomers had discovered a new galaxy. Throughout our years here on earth we, more like the astronomers all over the world, have been studying and searching the timeline of the universe. Trying to understand when things happen and having a better understand of life from the beginning. With the recent confirmed discovery of the earliest known galaxy it is a step forward to our understanding of our universe and how technology has advanced. I feel like with the technology we have now and our further ongoing research we will one day be able to travel to other galaxies. In the article they talked about how they discovered the galaxy and its something I have never heard of. I just thought that they have a computer scan the universe throught a high-powered telescope but its far more advance than that. With that high-powered telescope researchers use this so-called gravitational lens which magnifies the telescope even more. This is because the mass of the galaxy is much larger, the larger the mass the stronger its gravitational pull and with that it bends light around it affecting how telescopes on Earth. So maybe there are extraterrestrial life out there, there just waiting for us to find them.
