Noticing a pattern? Of course you do! It’s rather blatant seeing these scenes back to back like this. Even separately, both protagonists’ journeys were rather obvious ones, weren’t they? In UDG, they really seem to want to drive (hammer) in the fact that Komaru was going through an arc. A “weak girl to strong girl” sort of development. It was incredibly straightforward about how she made excuses every chance she had and how she can’t continue moving forward because she was just “a normal girl”. Kind of similar to how the Ultimate Detective would say things like “I only solved a case by accident” or “I’m only an apprentice”. Both were making all sorts of claims on why they think they weren’t qualified to take any sort of personal responsibility to better the situation they were stuck in.
