Some things you might be wondering, briefly addressed! :)
Do you intend to accept NSFW submissions?
NSFW… That means porn, right?
NSFW can mean a whole host of things. When we say NSFW, we’re using it broadly to refer to any and all works containing significant amounts of graphic content, including but not limited to physical violence (brutality and abuse,) mental and physical anguish/trauma (gore and psychological torment,) illegal and illicit activities (drugs/alcohol and realities of addiction,) profuse profanity (more than a peppering of ‘hell’s or ‘damn’s,) and, yes, sexual themes and situations.
Sex and sexuality are a routine part of the human experience. We won’t require anyone to shy away from dealing with them in narratives. However, we also encourage creators to think critically about why it is they’re choosing to include sexual content in their work, and consider just how vital it actually is to the integrity of the story. Sex in fiction can be an extremely effective tool for influencing readers’ emotions, shaping the plot, and developing character when it is used thoughtfully and strategically.
What we aren’t looking for is PWP (porn without plot) or erotica. There are tons of other places people who wish to create content like that can go, namely the kh_anoncomm on Dreamwidth.
Are you affiliated with the KH Big Bang or the KH Supernova?
Nope! We are three separate and distinct events run by three separate and distinct teams!
How is the Fan Bash different from a traditional “big bang”-type event?
A traditional big bang involves creators coming in unpaired and being matched-up by admins/moderators. Authors present detailed descriptions of a story/idea for a story in various stages of completion that are then bid upon by artists who want to create illustrations/companion artworks for the stories they like the best. Different categories exist for different fic lengths but this is the only model of participation.
The Fan Bash has three different models of participation (Art/Fic Relay, Art/Fic Solo, Art/Fic Sprints) and creators working collaboratively form their teams themselves before they come in. Admins/mods do not pair creators in the Fan Bash. The only things our admins/mods (affectionately referred to as the Bash Team/Bash Staff) do is assign prompts and review/file finished submissions.
