Man, I love ARK but dear god did they drop the ball with Ascended. Pyromane could've been such a cool tame that I would've actually paid for but it's just a Shadowmane rip off lmao So here's a redesign AND abilities bc I can't help myself,,,
Abilities
Active
Bite (Left Click)
The Pyromane bites the target in front of it, giving it a stack of Enflamed. Stacks up to 10 times.
Flame Leap (Right Click)
The Pyromane leaps through the air, damaging anything it hits.
Flame Trail (Hold Right Click)
The Pyromane leaves a trail of fire in its wake.
Flame Absorb (Ctrl + Right Click)
The Pyromane absorbs fire from nearby sources.
Volcanic Form (Ctrl + C, fuel dependent)
The Pyromane enters its Volcanic form at full fuel, boosting its damage by 50% and activating Flame Aura. Lasts until fuel is depleted.
Igneous Form (Ctrl + C, fuel dependent)
The Pyromane enters its Igneous form with depleted fire storage, decreasing incoming damage by 90% but disabling all abilities and movement. Lasts until Fuel is replenished.
Passive
Natural Armor
The Pyromane has a natural armor on the saddle slot inside its inventory that scales with the base creature's level up to 60 maximum armor.
Fuel
All of the Pyromane's abilities rely on its fuel, represented by a bar above the player's hotbar. With no fuel, the Pyromane performs weaker versions of all its abilities and cannot inflict stacks of Enflamed, with the exception of Igneous Form and Volcanic Form. Volcanic Form cannot be used with no fuel. Fuel can be replenished passively over time while in the radius of lit fire sources or other allies with fire abilities such as Phoenix and Fire Wyvern. The Pyromane can also use Flame Absorb to quickly regain Fuel from both allies and enemies or any creatures with stacks of Enflamed. Creatures with fire-based abilities will be temporarily debuffed, reducing their movement speed by 25% and damage by 10% for 30 seconds.
Cooking Station
The Pyromane's inventory cooks any kind of Raw Meat at a similar rate to a Campfire. It will also automatically generate Cooked Meat Jerky and Prime Meat Jerky from the cooked meat in its inventory without the need for Oil at a similar rate to a Preserving Bin.
Fuel for Structures
The Pyromane can provide fuel to objects that burn wood like Campfires, Standing Torches and Refining Forges. The radius can be configured using the radial menu of the Pyromane, with settings to be Off, Low (about 4 foundations), Medium (about 10 foundations), or High (about 18 foundations).
Insulation
With fuel, the Pyromane provides its rider and those around it with 100 insulation and immunity to ice attacks, such as Ice Wyvern breath attacks. When negating ice damage that would've been received, the Pyromane's fuel will begin depleting instead of taking damage.
Flame Healing
The Pyromane regenerates Health quickly while it is "receiving" fire damage such as from burning Oil Jar, Flame Arrows, Flamethrower or Fire Wyvern breath.
Flame Aura
Flame Aura is a passive that can only be activated by the Pyromane's Volcanic Form ability. While the Flame Aura is active, the Pyromane's rider and those around it will passively take damage from its heat. The damage is affected by Fortitude but can only be prevented by wearing Flamescale Armor.
Extinguished
When the Pyromane enters water, it gains the Extinguished debuff. Extinguished lasts for 1 minute after the Pyromane leaves the water. While Extinguished, the Pyromane's fuel is disabled; It is functionally the same as having no fuel. When the debuff wears off, it takes 15% fuel from the Pyromane, if available.
Taming
To begin the taming process, the wild Pyromane's fuel must be completely depleted. The best way to do this is to repeatedly lead it, or drop it, in a body of water but you can also force the Pyromane to attack with its abilities until its fuel is depleted.
Once it is out of fuel, you must provide the Pyromane with substantial fire sources to befriend it, eventually activating its Volcanic Form. While it is friendly in its Volcanic Form, it will want to go hunt marked targets. During its hunt, you must continue to provide it with sources of fire in order to keep it healed. The taming meter will progress with each target killed.
Its taming effectiveness will only be lowered if you happen to hit it during the taming process. Continuing to hit it while it is friendly will cause it to become aggressive. To restart the taming process, simply lead the Pyromane back to a body of water to Extinguish it until it has no fuel.
