Okay, so I have many, many headcanons about Khadgar reading while moving. Doesn’t matter if he’s walking or riding, he’ll do it whenever able (damn griffons and their air speed velocity).
So of course everyone has their own way of dealing with it to make sure he doesn’t walk off a cliff or something–
Lothar: grips the back of his cloak, right between the shoulder blades or by the nape of his neck, forcibly guiding him around people and pillars, like he’s this grumpy, drunken cat handling an oblivious dumbass cinnamon roll kitten. Sometimes he’ll tie the leads of Khadgar’s horse to his own, just to make sure his mage doesn’t somehow wander off and end up in Goldshire or something. (None of his men will meet his eyes in effort to hide their smirky smirks)
Taria and Llane: gentle grasps to the crook of his elbow, walking a tad slower than their normal gait, but eyes relaxed with warm smiles on their faces. Oftentimes he’ll be bracketed on each side by the most powerful couple in Stormwind, to and from meetings if Lothar is not around
Medhiv: Mages can sense magic, right? So Medhiv kinda lays a path for Khadgar, not a spell or incantation per se, but a slight gathering of the Arcane and his intention, unnoticed and invisible except Khadgar always faithfully follows the pull of magic.
Moroes: Walks in front of him, hands clasped behind his back, a silent, steady guide in Khadgar’s peripheral vision
Callan: walks a normal pace by his side, nudging with his hip or shoulder to move him out of other people’s path, exasperation and duty giving way fondness and friendship. Plus his dad would kill him if something happened to the mage
Varian: will just grab Khadgar’s hand and lead him wherever the prince wants to go, because oftentimes he’ll find the mage standing stock still in the middle of a corridor, nose buried in his book. It’s not like Khadgar remembers where he was going, anyways
Garona: she is the only one who doesn’t direct him, just walks on silent feet next to him, pausing when he stills and continuing as he moves. She is a sentinel, a guardian of the Guardian, because while he may not see it, he is one of the most powerful people in Azeroth, and those in power fear his power, and fear breeds powerful enemies. She doesn’t doubt his strength, had seen what his magic and knowledge can do, but she also knows he is soft and trusting and vulnerable where he thinks he is safe
People of Stormwind: they’ve gotten used to seeing him wander around like this, don’t normally have to help him as someone is always around, and it’s become something of a local legend, spoken of with wry grins and fond eyerolls. So anytime an outsider loses their temper and tries to yell at him, push him out of the way, they deal with it, in various ways, because they are loyal to those who are loyal to them, and no one doubts Khadgar’s loyalty, not a single one
