Do you ever lie awake wondering how the heck Gimli knows what a nervous system is
Clearly dwarves have medical knowledge far more advanced than that of the other races.
His Majesty Dr. Gimli, son of Gloin, Neurosurgeon, M.D.
gimli trying to explain his studies to legolas, a flat-earther
#*scroll down* #*remember that middle earth is canonically flat for elves and round for everyone else* #*scroll back up & smash that reblog button"
tired: legolas took gimli to valinor with him because they were bffs/in love/etc.
wired: legolas took gimli to valinor to prove the world was flat after arguing with him about it for decades
Sorry it’s what to elves
So, in Tolkein lore, the world was originally flat, with most of the land in the middle (hence Middle Earth). But the Numenorians (men who were rewarded with their own Atlantis-equivalent island for service in the first big war against Melkor, but eventually Power Corrupts etc) tried to invade the uttermost west which was basically Elf Heaven. To put an end to that sort of thing, the creator of the world Bent The World and made it a sphere…but left elves able to treat it like a flat disk. So elves can sail west and reach Elf Heaven, but a man or dwarf or hobbit who sails west will eventually wrap around to the east coast of Middle Earth.
This is why Legolas can see for such great, almost impossible distances. The Earth does not curve for him.
Legolas said fuck the horizon
God I fucking love high fantasy
YouTube is so exhausting these days. all my favorite video essayists drop "it was promised to them 3000 years ago" jokes at random. I watch videos about genuinely terrible people (rapists, pedophiles, murderers, etc.) and the creator is like and they support Israel which makes sense for such a deplorable person, obviously. shut up shut up shut up shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The entire internet needs to hear this.

During my first go at university, let's call it my trial run, I took a history class on modern European history and I had brought up left wing and right wing antisemitism. This was in regards to us discussing the lead up to the rise of Adolf and the boys.
Anyway, the professor appreciated my comment but finished her response to my comment with a critique which was "...And of course, there's no such thing as left-wing antisemitism."
I wonder how she's doing these days.
mad respect to Israelis who make jewelry out of rocket shrapnel. world’s most metal upcycling. they tried to kill us for being Jews and now their rocket is a Magen David on my neck. FUCK
“Criticizing Israel isn’t antisemitic” yeah well lying about the largest group of Jews in the world and making an entire personality out of wanting them to die isn’t criticism
it's like the "just asking questions" crowd, they aren't actually just asking questions
"Criticizing Israel is not antisemitic"
That's funny, I don't see you criticizing Russia the same way. I don't see you criticizing China the same way. Afghanistan. Syria. Yemen. Iraq. Iran. Turkmenistan. North Korea. The list goes on
Wonder why that is. Could it be... antisemitism?
Or just that we don’t like genocidal Jews.
Well you said jews instead of zionists. At least you're honest about your jew hate

When I tell you guys my jaw dropped reading this... holy actual fucking shit
A few more gems:

Did you miss when Russian immigrants were being harassed? Have you not seen all the racism against the Chinese online? Do you not remember how Islamophobic people were during the Afghan war?
Shut the fuck up and stop committing genocide.
"Have you missed russian immigrants being harassed?"
That's interesting as I'm russian myself, dumbass, tell me more about how we, russians, are firebombed at protests, blocked from student campuses, called baby killers, vermin, how russian neighborhoods are filled with people screaming for our blood, how random russians are blocked from cafes and stopped in the streets and harassed over Putin's war simply because they're russian.

"Criticizing Israel is not antisemitic."
True, but you're calling Jews baby eaters.
But you're calling Jews genocidal in their dna.
But you're calling Jews globalists/aipac money, hungry for power people
But you're calling Jews pedophiles
But you're calling Jews vermin
I can keep going

This submission by a rare Arab atheist says something Western media almost never admits:
In Arabic, ordinary Arabs barely even discuss the “two-state solution.”
Not as a serious option. Not as a public debate. Not even as something to reject. It mostly exists in official speeches aimed at Western audiences.
I used to believe in that two state delusion too.
Then Israel offered, in the 2000s, almost everything Westerners keep saying the Palestinians want: all of Gaza, roughly 96% of the West Bank, a road connecting them under their control, and even parts of Jerusalem.
The answer was not peace.
The answer was the Second Intifada. Years of suicide bombings, shootings, buses exploding, cafés blown up, and Israeli civilians murdered in the streets.
At some point people need to ask the obvious question:
How can so many Westerners still be this detached from reality? Even after October 7?
And why is their media constantly lying to them about what Arab societies actually believe?

Debate fatigue when arguing the Jewish connection to Israel.
As someone who has dedicated their life to history and is actively pursuing becoming a professional historian, the way I have approached fighting antisemitism has always naturally taken a historical focus. Here is what I can tell you from my debate experiences:
No matter how much history and historical proof I shared, if an individual just hated Jews, there was no reasoning with them; nothing will change their mind. We could build a time machine and bring them back to the 11th century BCE to the Kingdom of Israel or the 6th century BCE to the building of the Second Temple, and they still will never admit to Jewish indigeneity and connection to the land. You can show them all the demographic information of the population of modern Israel, and they will still say everyone is a "European Settler". I can have a fruitful converstations and debates with people who recognizes our connection to the land, its history, and its importance to us, but who are opposed to the modern state. But someone who simply hates Jews or hates being Jewish (Because this is also unfortunately common), I have had to learn the hard way that I can not let it get to me when I can not reason with them. This is not to say we should stop trying, challenging these thoughts still has value if it exposes others listening or reading to knowledge. But I have had to remind myself that it is not that I am not doing enough, it's that hatred truly blinds people.
Taking the approach that I am debating this person, not with the sole goal of changing their mind, but to provide knowledge to the open-minded person who might read it or is listening, has significantly helped me with the fatigue and anger I have been experiencing. Even if this debate doesn't change this person, and even though I will still have bad days, at least it may bring some light to someone else.
I... I don't even have words for the nonsense I've just witnessed, really. Recently, Israel was added a UN sexual violence in war zones blacklist. And just, look at this. Listen to this video.
.... WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T NEED TO DO ANY VERIFICATION???? EXCUSE ME???
