Not as a serious option. Not as a public debate. Not even as something to reject. It mostly exists in official speeches aimed at Western audiences.

I used to believe in that two state delusion too.

Then Israel offered, in the 2000s, almost everything Westerners keep saying the Palestinians want: all of Gaza, roughly 96% of the West Bank, a road connecting them under their control, and even parts of Jerusalem.

The answer was not peace.

The answer was the Second Intifada. Years of suicide bombings, shootings, buses exploding, cafés blown up, and Israeli civilians murdered in the streets.

At some point people need to ask the obvious question:

How can so many Westerners still be this detached from reality? Even after October 7?

And why is their media constantly lying to them about what Arab societies actually believe?

As someone who has dedicated their life to history and is actively pursuing becoming a professional historian, the way I have approached fighting antisemitism has always naturally taken a historical focus. Here is what I can tell you from my debate experiences:

No matter how much history and historical proof I shared, if an individual just hated Jews, there was no reasoning with them; nothing will change their mind. We could build a time machine and bring them back to the 11th century BCE to the Kingdom of Israel or the 6th century BCE to the building of the Second Temple, and they still will never admit to Jewish indigeneity and connection to the land. You can show them all the demographic information of the population of modern Israel, and they will still say everyone is a "European Settler". I can have a fruitful converstations and debates with people who recognizes our connection to the land, its history, and its importance to us, but who are opposed to the modern state. But someone who simply hates Jews or hates being Jewish (Because this is also unfortunately common), I have had to learn the hard way that I can not let it get to me when I can not reason with them. This is not to say we should stop trying, challenging these thoughts still has value if it exposes others listening or reading to knowledge. But I have had to remind myself that it is not that I am not doing enough, it's that hatred truly blinds people.

anyone that’s making this about trying to discuss israeli politics or how the israeli government/military isn’t perfect is missing the point.

my grandfather, may his memory be a blessing, died less than a week ago. he and his entire family experienced ethnic cleansing at the hands of pan-arabism and watched their lives — lived like our ancestors had for centuries and centuries in syria, iraq and iran — get snatched from them out of pure hatred and intolerance. there was no cry for justice, to this day. there has been no restitution, no UN resolution or effort to right the wrongs experienced by 850,000+ forced out of SWANA.

i actually need to make it clear that i do not give a single flying fuck about a single fucking israeli bill or military action or politician’s statement. israel exists because we deserve a homeland and because NO ONE ELSE WAS COMING TO OUR RESCUE. no one would take the shoah survivors, the 850,000 jews left with the clothes on their backs running from SWANA, no one wanted us.

and no my grandfather did not stay in israel, though they did escape through israel. and thank GOD for it. he did, everyday, and prayed for his family in israel, the idf, our brothers and sisters just living their lives jewishly in our homeland.

anyone who comes to my defense as i mourn my grandfather and the history that was lost when he died less than a week ago shouldn’t say or do anything but acknowledge our peoplehood, what we endured, and why our nation and our homeland is EVERYTHING. he wouldn’t want anything but that. that is what scares goyim and anti-zionists.
