The life of an Aspie

Maybe I should stop posting but I want to let people know what Asperger's is from my point of view. As I look through all the "definitions" I think people try to label people with Asperger's as "Someone with a disorder" and I'm here to tell you otherwise. Though Asperger's can be a hindrance it is also a gift. It can cause be me to be socially awkward, obsessive, sometimes a little unaware to social cues (Body language, tones, and even basic motions). On the other side of this Aspie leaf I'm like a sponge. When it comes to learning something new, I try to absorb every little detail. A recent example if my Computer Science class. I love that class and the professor gave us an assignment to write (on paper) the basics of an algorithm (equation). I decided, using what little knowledge I had, to write (in code) the algorithm. My first try was a success. Needless to say, I showed the professor and she was quite impressed. I do obsess about things. A lot of things actually. But that's another story. Anyways, I can hone this obsessive quality to control and direct it to more important things. Right now its college. I'm also really socially awkward. However, over the last 6 years I've been through multiple... Procedures?... I don't know what word to use, but I have been putting myself out there and trying new things. When I was 12 or 13 I would be so shy I couldn't order food on my own. Then, a friend of mine said she would help me put myself in uncomfortable social situations. As I look back I realize how much I've been through and how much I've accomplished with my gift. If I can go through intensive problems and hindrances and can get this far in life, I'm sure you, whether an Aspie or not, can succeed no matter what life throws at you. :D
