since y'all seem to like it when i make dumbass brainrot-fueled posts abt wilbur and tommy (and in doing so out myself for having familial issus but SHH shut the fuck Up), hereâs a bunch of HCâs about their in-character relationship. feast, boys
Â
âin the first ever war with dream, after tommy sacrificed a life in the duel with him, wilbur spent days not leaving tommyâs side. even after the war was overâ even after theyâd secured their independence, wilbur didnât ever really want to be too far away from the boy; he was constantly worried that it was a dreamâ that seeing tommy every day was some sort of dream, and if he wasnât with the boy heâd wake up andâand tommy wouldnât be there. he would constantly hover, & if tommy got injured somehow, it didnât matter if the wound was insignificant, he would freak out and insist that he needed medical attention. tommy would have to constantly remind him that; âyes, iâm fine wil. no, iâm not going to die, itâs just a fucking papercut, calm downââ.
âwilburâs a mother hen, through and through. it doesnât matter what , if something garners his concern about tommy he will not  leave him alone for days until he gets answers / heâs sure that tommyâs okay. tommy makes fun of him for this, since he freaks out more than their actual dad does whenever he gets in trouble, but wilbur canât help it, because tommyâs a fucking idiot and he somehow always  puts himself into some sort of danger. wilburâs surprised he doesnât have grey hairs.
ââtheyâre both extremely clingy. both of them wonât admit it, but they really canât go too long w/o each other, constantly wondering where the other is or what theyâre doing if theyâve been w/o each other for too long. whenever wilbur sees tommy after not interacting w/ him for likeâŚ.,,⌠even a couple hours he forces himself next to him and follows him around for the entire day. tommy just deadass clings to him like a fucking leech, too, holding onto his arm. there was a lot of times back in the old l'manberg days where wilbur would be discussing something important w/ fundy and niki and tommy would just,.. be there. hanging off his elbow. or, tommy would be hanging out w/ tubbo and wilbur would suddenly barge through, into their conversation and shove his way in the middle and loudly go âHEY TOMMY".Â
âback in the old l'manberg days, after the OG war w/ dream, the two of them would always comfort each other after a bad nightmare, or w/ their general anxieties. tommy would wake up in a middle of nightmare, with what felt like an arrow in his chest and water in his lungs and the sound of wilburâs countdown, not knowing where he was, and wilbur would be there. wilbur would wake up w/ a dream about a button room, about the images of the dreamteam tearing through the walls, of 'it was never meant to beâ and tommy would be there. they were the only people who felt comfortable enough w/ each other to actually express how the first war effected them. (wilbur was the only person tommy confided in about how scared heâd been during the duel, and in turn wilbur told tommy about how paranoid heâd been feeling since eretâs betrayal.)
âback then, wilbur was in support of the dumbass adventures and mishaps tommy would get himself in w/ dream. it was the most entertaining thing heâd seen in awhile, watching tommy and dream chase each other aroundâplus, he felt a little guilty for letting tommy be apart of the warâs, so he would let him have thisâyouâd think the man who made the nation would be against his right hand man putting it in possible jeopardy, but no. he would just sit back and watch and dream and tommy wrestled over their disks in the distance, sipping his tea.
FUNDY; youâarenât you gonna stop them?
WILBUR, sitting on a pull-out chair with shades on; no, no, itâs fine.
TOMMY, in the distance: IâLL FUCKING KILL YOU BITCH
WILBUR: just donât give tommy an actual weapon and itâll be fine
FUNDY, watching dream body slam tommy in the distance: i donâtâŚthink thatâs the problem
âin the beginning of the pogtopia arc, tommy had been noticing how stressed and closed-off wilbur and seemed, so heâd tried to do something about itâ tried to help in the ways he could. he didnât ever really address that he noticed how exhausted wilbur looked, but he went out of his way to get him little gifts; like, going hunting to make food for him that wasnât potatoes, making stupid little jokes to brighten his day, spending more time with him, constantly talking about how good of a president he wasâ it was the little things that he tried to help with, sticking to wilburâs side like a leech and constantly filling pogtopia with meaningless chatter. (wilbur knew he was doing thisâ knew he was trying to help in the ways he could, and even if he knew his attempts were futile, he didnât stop him. he couldnât stop him, really, because he was still so endeared by the stupid puns and jokes tommy littered throughout the days, just for him.)
âtommy has always been, and always will be, extremely protective of wilbur. in the OG days of l'manberg it was more prominent, like whenever somebody would talk slightly negatively about wilbur, tommy would always somehowâŚ,,,,.. appear. like, when jack first joined l'manberg he made a snide little commentâthat was more so a joke than anything elseâabout the way wilbur soot ran the place, and tommy whipped around and looked at him like heâd just stabbed his fucking mother. anybody, regardless if they were apart of l'manberg or not, didnât ever talk bad about wilbur because tommy would somehow almost always be standing behind him w/ a giant fucking chain saw
QUACKITY: yeah, i just think itâs kinda fuckinâ weird how wilburâs running the place â
TOMMY, pulling out a crossbow from his pocket; oh, yeah, continue.
TOMMY, putting on a bunch of netherite armor; no, no, continue what youâre saying, i wanna fucking hear it.
TOMMY, placing TNT around quackity; I WANNA HEAR WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY. PLEASE CONTINUE
âafter wilbur snapped in the pogtopia arc, tommy stillâŚ,,,. tried to cheer him up. he didnât really understand why wilbur was behaving the way he wasânor did he really forget about wilburâs speechâbut he still was so determined to make everything betterâ to make wilbur better, at least, so he continued trying to make little jokes; he continued trying to start up banter, or get wilbur some gifts, or talk about the members of l'manberg that missed him, but it didnât ever work like it used to. âŚ,,,actually, whenever tommy was speaking too muchâ whenever he accidentally crossed a boundary or spoke too much, wilbur would snap at him; would yell at him for being annoying, for wasting his time, that; 'i actually have things i have to do, tommy! i canât stand around and listen to you yammer on about fuckingâŚnonsense!â tommy eventually stopped trying to speak in pogtopia at all.
âa few days after the aftermath of the pit scene, wilbur followed tommy around in pogtopia. he didnât ever really say much, but he would constantly be at tommyâs side no matter what he was doingâ tommy didnât ever really indulge him. when wilbur did speak, it was snide little comments about what happened at the festival and the things he had planned for the future, or just berating him for even getting upset about tubboâs execution. for awhile it continued like this; wilbur just following him around with silence or with taunts, until tommy snapped at him one day, saying; 'i get it, alright? i get that i failedâ i get that i couldnât save him! what do you want?! from me? canât you leave me alone?? havenât you done enough?!â wilbur recoiled. he lookedâŚ,,, hurt. for a second. he didnât talk to him for days after that, and the only time he did it was about his plans. tommy didnât know if he was grateful.
âafter they secured their independence for l'manberg, they had a celebration. it was a small, party like gathering, and wilbur got pretty drunk off his ass. the remaining members of l'manberg were cleaning up the mess theyâd made after the celebration had been over, and when wilbur was heading into the caravan to go to bed, he turned around and addressed tommy, grabbing him by the shoulders to tell him how proud he wasâ how happy he was that heâd given up something of such value to him for l'manbergâs independence, how grateful heâd been for his growth and about how he couldnâtâve done any of this without him. âŚ,,he didnât remember saying any of that the next day, and tommy just gathered that the only reason heâd said that was because he was still pretty drunk, but not a day goes by, even in his nights in exile, that he doesnât think about it. he wonders if he meant it. (he did.)
