there's a beautiful parallel between Occtis and Azune. they have nothing alike and yet they have everything alike. Azune's parents did all they could to give him a future and yet the mercenaries cast him aside as a disappointment. Cue Occtis, born to everything and yet cast aside, abandoned for his lack of magic. And then there's Thimble with a rock and Thjazi with a wheelbarrow, offering two unwanted children a job, a purpose, a future. Thjazi leads them both to the magic of the Penteverall (even if Azune goes only to Murray), and sends them both to Thaisha and both on deadly missions.

It just fucks me up. Murray is to Azune what Thimble is to Occtis, and Thjazi was the father they wish they could have had but didn't, salvation with a wheelbarrow and a rock and magic of their own, and now they are left asking, did he even care at all
