"We are all aliens in human bodies. They say we are all the same but the truth is we are from different planets. No wonder we can't understand each other."

CALL ME CHIHIRO (2023) ā dir. Rikiya Imaizumi
When I like something, there's a method I use to see if I truly like it or not.
What is it?
"Would I do it if i were in a deserted island?"I think, I would still go for a run even in a deserted island.
Literally the cutest couple ever!!!!
Dae Beom is in Seoul while Yeo Reum is in Angok. Dae Beom bought a phone so he can talk to her. They even texted the whole night, and called each other when their fingers hurt from all the typing. When it was time to run, they had their ear phones on so they can still continue to talk to each other. Yeo Reum even showed the sun rise from Angok to Dae Beom, so they can watch it together.

Goddess Song Ji Won is bae!
She is like every other Kdrama heroine: lovely, cheerful, adorable, caring and pretty. What sets her apart is she being unapologetic honest, pervert, funny, liberal, feminist, intellectual and straightforward. The way she blasts people if she sees them being homophobes or sexist is so applaudable. She questions them right away and holds them responsible for their conservative thoughts. She is the friend everyone needs.
It saddens me when they show she gets rejected on her blind dates. People who say that only Im Sang Min can tolerate her are the people who are afraid of her awesomeness. As if being this awesome is some kind of intolerant behavior for which you need specific kind of man to ātolerateā. Sang Min is going to be the luckiest guy who is going to have her in his life. She sure is fire and Sang Min is that right amount of breeze that keeps the fire burning. She doesnāt need someone to suppress her but someone who make her grow and glow.
why is this show
taking so damn long
with these two

If youth is the season of hope, it is often so only in the sense that our elders are hopeful about us; for no age is so apt as youth to think its emotions, partings, and resolves are the last of their kind. Each crisis seems final, simply because it is new.

Mr. Sunshine Ending
The ending of Mr. Sunshine left me in tears, read crying the entire time, but it was probably the best possible ending this drama could have. Right from the beginning we all knew there wouldnāt be any rainbows and happily ever afters. But seeing every characterās development and seeing them fall so honorably was all I could ask for.Ā
Dong Mae counting down his last 10 days and taking down as many of the Musin Society members as he could, while avenging Yuzo was the best possible way he couldāve gone down. Him imagining his moments with Ae Shin as he takes his last breaths broke my heart, because he really is the most loyal human being on this planet. Dong Mae saying that him making at least one mark in her life is enough for him made me realize that he probably made one of the biggest differences in Ae Shinās life. He put the words noble fool in her head, and itās made her re-evaluate her whole existence and how she goes about living. So he doesnāt even realize how big of an impact heās had on her.Ā
Kim Hee Sung, aka my baby, also went down fighting, but his version of fighting. His fight was never with a gun or a sword, but with his words and photographs. And itās because of him that Korea was able to collect and control their own line of history. He says he loves useless things but heās never ever been useless in this fight for independence. To think his love for Ae Shin caused him to find this amazing passion to fight and be part of the revolution, he really has grown to be such a honorable man.Ā
Lee Yang Hwa (bc in this house we accept the woman she always wanted to be) is so iconic. Everyone thought she would sit pretty in her gowns and big hotel, but she was the baddest of them all. The woman literally blew up her lifeās saving and hard work for the better of the country, a country she never really knew. The world was so cruel to her but she never took a step back and gave up, instead she armed herself with her gun, fencing stick, and literal bombs. When she confessed to Gu Dong Mae at the last moment I just wanted to grab KES by the collar and scream WHY!!!! But Iām happy Yanghwa had Dong Mae, and Iām glad Dong Mae had Yanghwa. The love these two have for each other really is the strongest kind of love out there.Ā
Eugene Choi was someone I got bored of throughout the drama, oops, but in this last episode he really came through. He realized the importance of Ae Shin fighting to save her country, when before he wanted to be selfish and keep her for himself. He went out of his way to save the Righteous Army multiple times. He genuinely likes Gu Dong Mae even though he knows Dong Mae is in love with Ae Shin. He adores Hee Sung. He appreciates Lee Yang Hwa. The scene on the train when he was dying and MeloManceās OST was in the background, gave me goosebumps. He had such a big impact on so many of the supporting characters, his death really was hard hitting.Ā
I was surprised, but also not surprised, that Go Ae Shin survived from everyone else. Statistically, she had the biggest probability of death because she was always in harmās way, but she has way too much skill and way too many people backing her up for her to die. These last two episodes really made me appreciate Kim Tae Ri as an actor, when she sobbed I sobbed. When she smiled, I smiled. It also made me realize how strongĀ Go Ae Shin is. She sees her comrades and family dying left and right. Her teacher, her guardians that she saw as parent figures, her husband. And yet, at the end sheās standing and making sure Korea has a strong future ahead. Sheās optimistic, even though sheās given every reason not to be. Sheās probably one of the strongest female characters Iāve ever seen.Ā
I think this drama will stay with me for a really long time. Iām not even Korean and I was in tears because of the patriotic feelings in me, I canāt even imagine how native Koreans feel. I think this drama had the best actors, they literally became their characters. There was never a moment where I didnāt buy their acting. If I ever paused it was in awe of the accuracy of their portrayals. I give this drama a 10/10, and this is from a Gu Dong Mae fan who wanted him to get the girl. Everyone, go do yourselves a favor and watch Mr. Sunshine.Ā
āI donāt know anything or have much. All I can do is stay in the rain with you.ā
Donāt worry. She was born to be a hippo. And when the hippopotamus gets pissed, itāll take over Ongsan. People are idiots for looking down on a hippopotamus. Hippos donāt even roar. They donāt even bite. All they need to do is ram into their enemy.
The overall message of "Regardless of how hard life can be, just you still existing, still living one day at a time, is a small miracle within itself" is a beautiful parting gift that When the Camellia Blooms gave us.
Yes, the world can be cruel. Yes, there exists misery and hate and death in life. Nothing and no one lives in an ideal because that's not how life works.
But BUT just because there exists darkness, doesn't mean you can't be a spark of light.
Just because the world can be cold, doesn't mean you can't be a warm shelter.
Kindness. Strength. Empathy. Joy. Compassion. Laughter. Love.
Those are little seeds we're capable of planting, not just in our own lives but out there in the world. Seeds that will blossom into wonderful flowers that'll color our lives! Whether it be a garden or even just one small potted plant.
When the Camellia Blooms was a drama that gave us a story beyond family, beyond community, beyond the romantic and the platonic. It was a love letter about how one single life (metaphorically one single seed) can make all the difference (blossom into a garden).
By simply showing us how our mere presence (how we each individually) could have an impact in this world, whether it be on a grand scale with society as a whole or on just one person with just one act of kindness -- Your life matters.
You matter.

āHardships were added to an already strenuous life. Even if what you hoped for fails, do not be too discouraged.ā
āI want to stop trying hard. Iām sick of giving my all. I represent hard work and persistence. Iām too tired to do it anymore. I think I can lead a good life if I donāt play baseball.ā
