Scribble Slam is a live art battle between two artists held at Kerbside with a theme announced at the start of a 90 minute timer. Winners are chosen by two judges and a crowd vote.

Round 17 sees Alby Mangles - Shakewell Magazine VS Josh Thorsen - Teens On Acid, and as always MC'd by the lovely Lucinda Kent.

Inigo will be providing the live music on the night, with DJ Sets from El Santo Remezclón.

Terms and Conditions of Entry for 'Kerbside CRAFT ALLEY' competition

2. The promotion period begins on 5th March 2014 at 09:00am EST & ends on the 20th March 2014 09:00am EST and only eligible entries will be accepted between these dates. To enter the competition, email [email protected] with your response to why you should win 4 tickets to Craft Alley between the stated promotion period.

3. Eligible entries must contain a valid entry response, full name, phone number and valid email address. Entries into the competition must be sent to [email protected] 

4. Entry is open to Brisbane residents only, aged 18 years or older. Employees of Brian E. Fitzgibbons Pty Ltd ATF are excluded from entry.

5. Total of each prize is valued at AU $80, with two prizes to be won. Prize consists of 4 x general entry tickets to Craft Alley on Sunday 23rd March 2014. 

6. Drawing will consist of two picked winning entries from all the entries received in the entry period. Winning entries will be decided by management.

7. Winners will be contacted by email using the email address provided. If no response is received within 1 day a new winner will be randomly chosen.

8. The winners will be posted on the Facebook Page (Facebook.com/KerbsideBar)

9. The prize must be redeemed between 12pm and 8pm on Sunday 23rd March 2014 at Kerbside (Constance Street, Fortitude Valley Q 4006) and the prize is not redeemable for cash.

10. The personal information collected as part of the entry is collected to enable identification of the winner.

Beer O’Clock Feature - Stone & Wood Stone Beer (7.2%)

The month approaching winter marks a special place in the calendar at the Stone & Wood brewery, because it’s that time of the year when they get out their stones and heat them in a wood fire at the brewery as part of brewing their limited release Stone Beer. It’s a beer that has evolved over the years and the 2013 brew is no exception. But blink and you'll miss this one... it's only limited release! But we here at Kerbside were one of the first to get this in stock!

As a tribute to the brewers of the Middle Ages Stone & Wood brew this beer by adding wood fired stones to the kettle to rouse the boil and intensify the malt characters of the brew.

Long before the wizardry of steam was invented, brewers used stone and wood to brew their daily beer. They built a fire to heat large stones until they were hot enough to be added to their wooden vats to create a boiling brew. Apart from the obvious heating effects, the brewing stones also caramelised the brew to create subtle but rich toffee like flavours.

S&W have a perfectly good boiler, but it is those intense malt flavours from caramelising the wort that we have gone to great lengths to create. To add further complexity they then added the sticky cooled stones to the fermenter to let the yeast have a real treat feeding on the “wort candy” during fermentation.

Beer O’Clock Feature - 961 Beer Lebanese Pale Ale (6.3%)

Today's Beer O'clock feature beer is 10,000 years in the making!

961 Beer began during the dark days of the July 2006 siege on Lebanon. Tired with the lack of quality beer in Lebanon, Mazen Hajjar and his friends started to brew beer in his very own kitchen. The first batches were brewed in 20 liter kettles. Granted that war and blockades are not the ideal conditions to start a company, alongside everyone telling them they were mad to even consider it, they went ahead with it anyway. They decided that brewing a good beer for a great country was what they wanted to do the most.

When 961 Beer officially began brewing they were one of the smallest breweries in the world, and the only microbrewery in the Middle East (and still are). Although 961 Beer now brews nearly 2 million liters per year, they still insist upon making beer using the very same principles: traditional techniques, quality ingredients and love.

This beer is an innovation inspired straight from the Lebanese spice markets, and filled with Lebanese tastes. The Lebanese Pale Ale is based on an English IPA. It uses Lebanese herbs such as za'atar (wild thyme), sumac, chamomile, sage, anise, and mint in the brewing process. This gives the beer its distinctly Lebanese flavour and fragrance.

Beer O’Clock Feature - Bear Republic Brewery Red Rocket Ale (6.8%)

Just in and icy cold for beer o’clock today is the Red Rocket Ale, a bastardised Scottish style red ale that traces its origins to Bear's homebrew roots.

Winning a slew of Silver medals at many American beer festivals, the Red Rocket is a robust red ale, but still goes down smooth. This full bodied and hoppy brew finishes on the palate with sweet, caramel malt flavours.
