Was Destiny sick of answering that question?
Honestly? No, not really.
In fact, she kind of loved when people asked. For so much of her life, Destiny had felt unwanted and sheltered. She had little in the way of friends. Felt like everyone saw her as a burden. Who wanted to hang out with the blind girl?
But over the last few years, she had pushed past her limits, her fears. Now, she had friends who didn't mind waiting on her. Who were always accommodating, and, most importantly:
Who seemed to actually miss her when she was gone.
"Yes, I'm--well, I still have a concussion but it is getting better every day. It wasn't that bad, really. How have you been?" She hadn't seen him in quite a bit!

Ken winced in sympathy. He'd had a few concussions in his lifetime, so he knew how that went. Even if it didn't feel bad, the effects of a brain getting bonked around weren't fun.
"Me? Yeah, I mean, I'm good! Things were super busy there during Prom season but they've slowed down now soβ yeah. Good," he said with a little nod. It took him a second to realize that this was the prime spot for a segue into why he had chased her down out there. If only he'd had the foresight to think of a good reason to get her back to the thrift store.
"Which gave me time to work on a project I'd been working on for a while now! And I was wondering if you had a few minutes to come by? Check it out? I'd really appreciate your opinion on it!" That wasn't a total lie! It just left out the important detail that the project was for her.
