Love yourself. That’s the message of today. But until just recently I never thought of what that could really mean. What if I loved myself as I love the girl with the smile like light leaking out from under the bedroom door hinting at something behind it so bright I’d be blinded. What if I loved myself as I love the boy who uttered five words that blew my mind clear out of the tiny pond it lived in. What if I loved myself as I love the way she slouches in her chair as I love the way he kisses the air as I love simple things, untouched things.

“How much time do I have left until I am just another one of your memories?” “Until my heart stops loving you.” “So soon?” “No, never.”

What if there’s more to this? And one day, we become what we do, not what we say.

Meeting your soul mate is like walking into a house you’ve been in before - you will recognize the furniture, the pictures on the wall, the books on the shelves, the contents of drawers: You could find your way around in the dark if you had to.
