I wanted share with you something that I saw online this evening, which is sure to motivate and lift everyone's spirits. This is beautifully written by a Disneyland Attractions Cast Member by the name of Anthony Marquez : My Disney family. When Walt built his kingdom. He surrounded with trees and brush so tall, the world outside disappeared. We call it the berm. A shield against the outside world that allows our guests to escape into our fantasy, our adventures, our future. But in time buildings got taller. The world got louder. And through our connection to so much news, it's easy to feel like it has become darker. The world got bigger but our trees can only grow so tall. I like to think that a funny thing happens to so many who spend their time as magic makers in this park. We become the real berm. The proud bearers of an ability to bring so much joy and happiness to strangers that we become their shield against the dark. We become little lights that stand along our berm. Protecting our fantasy, our adventures, and our future. The wonderful world we want and believe in, that we protect. This concept is not ours alone anymore. Many other parks have created fantastic escapes of magic and wonder. And they in turn sparked their own little lights. We each protect and love our home away from homes. And those with that deep love seek only to bring more into those homes. Tragedy from the real has struck. It has reminded us that our lights are fragile, and deeply so are our hearts. While we mourn, we must not forget. We exist in a noble profession that perhaps seems more important at these times. Children need us. Parents need us. Friends and family need us. For those lights we lost, we must shine brighter against these tragedies. Bring love and joy at a time when it feels it can be most absent. Our worlds are still there. We the Wizards, the Skippers, the Space men, and the Storytellers. We hold the key. And this week more than ever. Those in need of our cherished homes, need to be pulled in now more than ever. My Disney family Smile brighter. Laugh harder and longer. Reach out and believe more than you ever have for every child you meet. For while the berm and its trees have perhaps reached their height. I guarantee you that the strength of our shield, our little lights have not. Be magic. Be love. Be comfort. Be bright.
