Who truly is the rabbit, and who is the hunter?
The outfit is based on aspects of the palace guards of the old Joseon kingdom. This piece was special to me as it somewhat represents my heritage. When my father was growing up, remnants of Japanese colonialism was pretty evident and one aspect of it was the representation of the Korean peninsula--he was taught that the peninsula looks like a rabbit (which is honestly pretty true too), a hunted, a periphery to the superpowers around it. However, he later learned that originally, the peninsula was seen as a tiger (search it up on google images!) and the embodiment can kind of be seen in sheer sass recorded in the culture and history of the people. In this piece, the rabbit gears up, possibly for a hunt, or possibly to devote his soul to studying for an important midterm. Change starts with determination, be you a rabbit or a tiger.
I needed a new method of coloring for the device I'm using to draw so I kind of used Greesty 's very helpful coloring tutorial. While I definitely do not think this is the end game, her tutorial was extremely helpful to me in getting a direction (link to the tutorial I downloaded and used: www.artstation.com/marketplace… ) Also check out her arts because they're suuper pretty.
