btw there is so much anti asian racism for those who are willing to see and its worse because no one fucking acknowledges it. every day people make fun of our accents or our language or our food or our cultural clothes/makeup and there are people who still do stereotypical “indian accents” on the daily and ask korean ppl if they eat dogs and then you go on the internet and realize wow it’s not any better on here because no one is talking about it. straight up radio silence about the countless southeast asians being told “ni hao” in a bad accent or the chinese kids being accused of being spies in school. but of course “no one takes it seriously” because it’s all “jokes” because *we* are jokes to them and they cant imagine that racism in every corner of our lives genuinely affects us. and what makes it worse is that it’s perfectly fine for them to bastardize our cultures and even pretend to appreciate it when it gets them fame, like the white ass people doing the “very chinese time in my life” trend and the “white person shocking waitstaff by speaking perfect mandarin” videos. hell there are non-asian people who pretend/have pretended to be asian on the internet and theyve been allowed to get away with it without even fucking apologizing not even once (digital yellowface or pretending to be any sort of asian ethnicity you’re not online is such a big issue it would need another post in itself). but actual asians are subjected to bullying and discrimination under the guise of internet trends and jokes for so long, god forbid if they’re even first or second gen immigrants because IT WILL BE WORSE.
