Class Doodles; Yuri On Ice (mostly)

Listen, it’s just so important to me that they argue about small, domestic things like any couple would because it not only plays into the element of realism that the show itself tries so hard to depict, but also shows that any power imbalance that may originally exist due to the coach-student relationship and 11/12 years of idolization has completely or almost completely faded. Yuuri knocking Victor off the pedestal - Yuuri realizing that treating Victor like a god-like figure only serves to dehumanize him - is my favourite aspect to their entire relationship. The 9 months together in Hasetsu has already revealed to Yuuri that Victor is more or less as capable of human mistakes as he is, but it is only when he lives with Victor in his own home that he can uncover Victor’s most unornamented self, and to accept and love the entirety of his being as it is.

they talk about the upcoming event with lumps in their throats, not the sad kind, the one that seems as though it’s there to calm you down when you’re getting too excited.

ever since they knew the date viktor’s been pausing suddenly (every day) to say “hey we’re getting married it 32 days” and their eyes would light and up and they’d giggle. they’d twirl each other in their arms joyfully and hug each other so tightly.

on the day of, viktor wakes early with a huge grin on his face. he wakes yuuri like a child wakes their parents of Christmas morning.Viktor starts bouncing on his hands and knees, calling his name (makkachin gets excited and joins him) “yuuri, yuuri!! it’s today!!” and yuuri shoots up and grabs his glasses from the bedside table, and looks up and Viktor, they stare into each other’s eyes; finally!! it’s here!!!

and with the most energy yuuri’s ever had in the morning he joins Viktor and makkachin in bouncing on the bed.
