Getting hanged.
My Very Own Execution
After surrendering myself to Major-General Frederick Middleton, I wast hath tried and executed despite mine pleas of insanity, which the government hadst postponed mine hanging to investigate. I wast eventually hanged in Regina, Saskatchewan on 16 November 1885.
We have allowed ourselves to fall into the hands of a Government which only thinks of us to pillage us. Had he only understood what God did for us before Confederation, we should have been sorry to see it coming. And the half-breeds of the North-West would have made conditions of a nature to preserve for our children that liberty, that possession of the soil, without which there is no happiness for anyone; but fifteen years of suffering, impoverishment and underhand, malignant persecution have opened our eyes; and the sight of the abyss of demoralization into which the Dominion is daily plunging us deeper and deeper every day, has suddenly, by God's mercy, as it were, stricken us with horror.

Battle of Batoche.
Battle of Duck Lake.
Battles That Followed
We setteth up a post at Duck Lake. About a week anon, we wast approached by around 100 armed officers and militia. Negotiation wast cutteth short by fire from the officers. After a quick battle, the attackers hadst retreated to Fort Carlton with minimal casualties from both sides. I advised mine men to allow the troops to retreat. The east apace responded. An army of about 3000 troops, mainly militia, wast transported west. Joined by troops from the west, a force of 5000 men wast hath sent to combat the rebellion. Soon, other aboriginal groups and tribes joined the rebellion and the conflict becameth an all-out war. Battles like the one at Duck Lake hath followed, like that of Fish Creek. The Canadian forces hadst organized an attack on our base in Batoche. Â After three days of intense fighting, the MĂŠtis forces wast overrun. I surrendered on the May 15, and Dumont escaped to Montana.Â
Battle Ensues
On the 18 and 19 of March 1885, the MĂŠtis of Saskatchewan formed a rebellious provisional government with me as its president and Gabriel Dumont as its military commander. An armed force representing our government then tooketh hold of the parish church and Batoche, pressing the HBC to surrender their hold of Fort Carlton.

Nobody Really Keeps Promises
In 1885, Saskatchewan MĂŠtis hadst no faith in the government and wast not restful of waiting for those folk to doth something. The people of Batoche wanted to taketh arms against Canada in order to receiveth what those gents wanted. I disagreed and arranged a meeting for the 8th of March, 1885. I hath believed that the formation of a provisional Saskatchewanian government would beest the best course of action, but the motion wast hath passed. Instead, the people hath made a document named âThe Revolutionary Bill of Rightsâ guaranteeing ownership of their farmland and other rights of such manner.
We must cherish our inheritance. We must preserve our nationality for the youth of our future. The story should be written down to pass on.

Saskatchewan
In June of 1884, I wast hath asked by the MĂŠtis in Saskatchewan to returneth to Canada. thither wast unrest and mine abilities wast required. I arrived in Batoche, with intentions to resume mine life after twas all ov'r. The people thither wast worried about the entitlement of their land. those gents eke wast dissatisfied that the newly hath built Canadian Pacific Railway didst not reacheth those folk. William Henry Jackson and I hath decided to writeth a petition requesting aid from the government. The government didst concur to investigate the problem. This didst not holp the unrest within the MĂŠtis, as many of those folk hadst immigrated from Manitoba after similar promises hadst not been fulfilled thither.
"It has also been said that Mr. Riel was only a rebel. How was it possible to use such language? What act of rebellion did he commit? Did he ever raise any other standard than the national flag? Did he ever proclaim any other authority than the sovereign authority of the Queen? No, never. His whole crime and the crime of his friends was that they wanted to be treated like British subjects and not to be bartered away like common cattle? If that be an act of rebellion, where is the one amongst us, who, if he had happened to have been with them, would not have been rebels as they were?"

Amnesty Time
II wast finally granted a pardon for mine actions by Alexander Mackenzie. without intention of whether I hath broken any laws or not, I wast glad to beest amnestied and has't the weight on mine chest from mine past beest removed. mine only condition wast to enter exile off of British land for five years. Saying that the next five years in America wast a roller coaster is an understatement. In the beginning of 1878, I beganeth to suffer from severe mental disorders, and wast taken to hospital after hospital. anon, I hath found a group of MĂŠtis near Montana and wenteth to liveth thither. I joined the American Republican party and married mine quite quaint wife, Marguerite Monet, eke of MĂŠtis descent. Â
Getting Mixed Up With the Federals
Mine controversial actions wast dividing Ontario and Quebec. In Ontario, I wast known as the murderer of the âgood sirâ Thomas Scott. In Quebec, I wast a hero. Guardian Manitoban French culture and Roman Catholic virtues. This sparked a conflict between Canadaâs two biggest provinces. MacDonald, wanting to alleviate some of the conflict. that gent wanted me to enter a voluntary exile, and that gent wanted t lacking valor. Trying his best to persuade and bribe me. I didst enter exile but hath returned four months anon to enter federal politics. Luckily, I wast able to gain a seat in a by-election in 1873. Taking the sea wast too risky, so I didnât. I nev'r hath shown up in fear of being arrested for murder. In February 1874 I wast re-elected in a proper election. ere I could arrive and taketh mine seat, Orange party vaward Mackenzie Bowell swooped in to expel me on some like a stone motion. In September of that same year I manage to receiveth elected a third time, but taking the seat is just so scary! The parliament hadst enough waiting and expelled me again.
