Heβs too scared to be too blunt when it comes to flirting
So Roy is pretty subtle about it
To the point that you donβt notice, and hardly anyone does
You notice some things, though
For example, you catch him staring sometimes
Or how protective he is of you
And how he seems to be⦠nervous around you?
Not nervous exactly (Roy Mustang nervous? thatβs nearly impossible)
More casual and relaxed, like he wants to get closer to you
In fact, itβs either that or heβs very formal, thereβs no in between
You donβt really think much into it, and one day he seems frustrated
When Roy realizes youβre completely oblivious to his demeanor, or at least to the reason behind it, he decides to act
One day he takes advantage that youβre both aloneΒ
He seems very collected as he approaches you, thinking you have to talk
Youβre worried because he sounds so serious that you think itβs something about the army, something huge
But he behaves serene as he starts speaking, even if his heart is racing
βY/N, we have to talk about usβ
βDonβt we work well together?β Youβre still convinced that itβs about work
βNo, about how youβre ignoring my efforts, whether itβs deliberate or notβ

You smile to yourself at how sternly he behaves
Probably to hide his embarrassment and how flustered he trully is
βMaybe I doβ You say, and kiss him in the cheek
He clears his throat awkwardly, even if you spy a little smile
βExcellent, we will resume this conversation laterβ Roy mumbles as he goes back to work
βYeah, we willβ You wink at him, just to see him blushing
And this time itβs pretty clear because his whole face is red
