Syrus has an incredible ability to not only retain information, but keep information which includes secrets. As a result this can cause a significant amount of friction and a huge burden upon his shoulders as whatever is told to him in confidence he will keep and keep it to the grave. It also doesn't help that he is a very private person, so there are times where information from his personal life may end up omitted such as his guild not knowing about his partner which caused chaos to break out when they finally met her....
