Hamilton Hounds (Hamiltonstövare) are scenthounds — dogs use their sensitive noses and high endurance to follow prey's scent over long distances.

They are bred to track hare and fox scents alone over varied terrains. They are also bred to refuse to track deer.

The Hamiltonstövare is friendly and has a sociable nature. While it possesses a strong hunting instinct, it is also a loyal and affectionate companion. The breed tends to form strong bonds with its family members and is generally good with children. However, the breed can be stubborn and early socialization and training are crucial to ensure that the dog's hunting instincts are appropriately channeled.

English Cocker Spaniels are spaniels — initially bred to flush game out of dense brush and drive it toward the guns (to help the hunter shoot it).

They breed was initially created for hunting, but they became popular in dog shows and as pets. That increased the view they were all useless as working dogs, which is (for most dogs) untrue as even some show-bred Cockers have retained their working instinct.

They rank 18th out of 79 in working/obedience intelligence among other breeds.

With a good level of socialisation at an early age, Cocker Spaniels can get along well with people, children, other dogs and other pets. This breed seems to have a perpetually wagging tail and prefers to be around people; it is not best suited to the backyard alone. Cockers can be easily stressed by loud noises and by rough treatment or handling. When trained with a soft hand and plentiful rewards, the Cocker Spaniel will be an obedient and loving companion with a happy, cheerful nature.

**Kinosaki is a (yellow-washed) lemon cocker from a non-working line (not neessarily from a show line either). Though it is genetically possible for a dog to be of this color, these don't seem to come in yellow like that, so perhaps he has some mixed roots, too. Or maybe it's just an artistic liberty
