My soon to be Costa Rican Adventure

Costa Rica is my dream vacation destination. This destination speaks to me because of the beautiful terrain, ability to do water sports, the weather, and the amazing atmosphere

I plan to fly out of Pearson International Airport in Toronto in order to leave my car in the Park and Fly area at a nearby hotel.

When I ventured to Panama for my brothers wedding, my girlfriend, Stephanie, was unable to come. Throughout the 7 days in Panama I learned a valuable lesson about myself. A vacation without her, is not a vacation at all. I realized that I can go away anywhere in the world, but without her, it didn’t feel right. So when I go to Costa Rica in 2017, she will be right there by my side. Our first trip together was to New York City in 2014 and having her around me influenced me to explore more than what I would normally have done. This is why I want her with me in Costa Rica, she will challenge me to try new foods, do a new adventure, and I can convince her to do the same. Traveling is only fun to me when I have the most fun person I know right next to me.

This is my best friend Steph. She is also my girlfriend and the one person I want to spend every adventure with. She has shown me how to understand myself and has taught me to enjoy life no matter what happens. Spending this trip with her is going to be incredible

Unfortunately, not everyone can come with us on this trip. We will be leaving the third member of our family in Canada. Maximus is our dog and he will be missing us from our house in London

A goal in my life has always been to learn how to surf well. I am not the strongest swimmer but I was able to convince Steph to stay at a Surf Coaching Resort called Kalon Surf. It is in Dominical, Costa Rica. We have opted the all inclusive package because the last thing we like to do while travelling is worrying about where to get our next meal. Kalon is a highly ranked resort and it will be able to strike off another place and activity off my bucket list. I hope Steph likes surfing as much as I do! 

The flights will be from Toronto to San Jose, Costa Rica. This will be a direct flight with no other stops.

Dominical, Costa Rica offers us a luxury vacation. I want to go to Costa Rica to develop more as a traveler. I will be able to explore the area at my leisure while learning to do a sport that I have always wanted to learn. This trip is about trying new things. I am an adventurer when it comes to traveling. Previous trips to Florida have shown me that the leisure vacation is not for me. I enjoy hiking, waterfalls, body boarding, and have always wanted to go Jet Skiing. Kalon Surf Resort has 4 hours of surf lessons throughout 5 out of 7 days, This is nice because it isn’t a full day or a full trip of just surfing and leaves a lot of room for other adventures with Steph.

We have set our tentative date as August 17th to 28th. This is because it is avoiding the hot months (January to March) and the rainy season (September-November). This allows us great weather with less tourists to deal with! 

We have chosen to fly with Spirit Airlines. We flew with them on our flight to New York City. They are a low cost airline that offers flights with no extras. Me being 6′4″, I will be purchasing the extra leg room seats on the flight for us both, adding roughly 60$ each way. Well worth the ability to walk when i get there. 

Since the trip is more than a year away, its too soon to book flights. What I have done is create a mirror trip of roughly the same length. The flights will come out to $450 Cdn each. This is a great price as that is roughly $225 each way per person. Spirit is an incredible airline to keep prices low, but you also lose all the perks of flying commercial airline!

The day is August 17th 2017. We have arrived at the Toronto airport extremely early for our 2:30 A.m. departure. The estimated flight time is 5 hours and 30 minutes. so it will put us there in San Jose at approximately 6:30 (Costa Rica is one hour behind). Instead of going right to Dominical, we decided to do some sight seeing for Thursday and Friday in San Jose! This way we can see more of this beautiful place.
