just learned that there's an upcoming television show, legacy of spies, that will adapting some of the george smiley books and i am SO fascinated by some of the casting choices because some of them i can really see (hugh laurie as control, dan stevens as bill haydon) and others i can't quite wrap my head around (matthew mcfayden as george smiley, joe alwyn as jim prideaux). not sure anything could top the 2011 movie with gary oldman for me personally but i will have to keep an eye on it.

i am enjoying the way star city is interested in exploring how science and politics are inherently tangled together, that rather than being separate one will always affect the other. the chief engineer's lunar plans affect soviet russia's politics, and their politics affect how he is allowed to proceed with his plans.

watching star city right after house of the dragon means that it's personally amusing to me to see rhys ifans complaining that he has more important things to do than arrange other people's weddings. not a very otto hightower thing for him to say. sasha's actor was also involved in one of the weddings on that show which culminated him. er. dying. so let's hope this one goes better for all parties involved.
